Anyone know?
1) Does the 8 hours count working with offshore at night? If no, I'll ignore them till next morning
2) Does putting in extra hours on weekends help?
3) Is 5-6 hours + 2-3 hours office + home acceptable? Bridgets email does indicate so.

It's dangerous to assume that our failed leaders, or their administrative stooges, are capable communicators or care if we have sufficient understanding. They really don't. Domestic employees are to be eliminated. We do not matter in their minds. If some people misinterpret things and it can be used against them to avoid severance costs, that's a good thing in their eyes.
Wait, you are SERIOUSLY asking s-t-u-p-i-d questions like this.
Man, life has to be hard for you, let alone getting to the office by yourself.
This should not be hard and has been reiterated by many managers. The expectation is 8 hours in office 3x a week. You can try to get tricky by parsing Brigets email but use that logic for the unemployment line. I hate it but I can read. Anyway do your 8 hours and not a minute more. Then find another job.
@dy The email does NOT say 8 hours in office. It says they expect 8 hours of work wherever you are and be in the office at least 3 days a week.
I don’t know why some people seem to think it says something different. It doesn’t. Eric even said that on the town hall but apparently he misread it as well.
However, there might be some managers who expect 8 hours in the office and convey that to their team.
I would be happy to sit in on that meeting, listen in to the whole thing and not say a word, and then at the very end chime in with a “nothing from my end thanks”
Tough work man.
@bx cool, the next time I get a teams call at 2am - you’re gonna answer that for me right?
It takes 12-14 hours to complete daily tasks in follow-the-sun operation. The 8-hour mandate is insulting to all who work hard to keep this place from crumbling.
This can’t be a serious post. Bridgett’s email did not remotely come across like that. It stated a “work day” is 8 hours and RTO expectations are 8 hours in office. Where are people imagining this mathematical equation of adding up diverse values?
This is really time for everyone to put on their big boy pants and set boundaries. A vast majority of businesses have operated in an on-site model with the proverbial 9-5 working hours. Done. Anything after hours was a call and wait for commute time back to work. So either don’t answer your phone or do.
My manager grades on a 50 hour week. After hour installs and india support are required and tracked.
OP, 8 hours is for in office. Nothing you do outside of the office counts towards that.
Gotta have sales people to pay for all the bloat that complain about having to work more than 20 hours a week!
Imagine coming into a thread of people working in corporate offices and expecting your title of branch banker to confer some kind of status or authority
@bx thats why we are not tellers 😌
@bx branch and tech employees are entirely different. You doing conf calls at pretty much any time of day or night?
It appears they want flexibility to only work one way.
Since the 8 hr office mandate I have cancelled any before hours meetings, after hours meetings and extra time.
They get 8 hrs when they used to get 12-14.
So the 8 hours in 8 hours in office. Don’t make this complicated for now. This doesn’t accommodate how we actually work in tech but that’s not our problem. They need to change the rules. So go in at 8 and leave at 4. No offshore calls, no questions from home.
If there is an emergency then you will need to drive to the office. If it takes you 45 minutes to get there oh well. This will hurt short term but not long term.
@b8 what about on remote days?
@bx if you had an ounce of knowledge about how coding works you'd know that no company, not even Google and Meta, has developers who code 8 hours per day 5 days a week for the whole year.
Development is a target based role. I'm sure we'd be fine sitting in the bank getting yelled at by customers.
For in-office tracking, does it make a difference if a person uses Cloud PC vs primary laptop?
Branch banker here. You guys would absolutely struggle in output based jobs that’s for sure.
New rules: People should immediately stop accommodating calls from home outside of working hours and focus on getting your 8 in the building. Leadership does not care if you take a call at 6am. Instead, get in the shower and make your commute to arrive at 8am. You can look for any emails about the call you missed once at your desk. This is the new priority, adjust how you work.
It does not account for early calls to accommodate offshore (or east coast, if you live in the west). If you take 6 am calls from I&P and then commute to Chandler at 8, the clock resets to zero. The whole rule is a recipe for time theft
I'd suggest everyone that's able to, stop making such accommodations. They want compliance, give it to them, maliciously
the problem when supporting offshore, they start to expect you to be there during their working time....so flip it. Make THEM be available during your hours. Thats what I did...before I left the crazyiness.
The direction we had was 8 hours connected to the network in the office, plus badge in/badge out calculation.
