Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Renton slowly starting to die

For all of us who are currently still there, you all know the current situation..
Countless useless projects, idle threats, management/execs down your throats.
Needless to say I’m happy to still have a job but damn, morale will never be the same thanks to the higher ups in the building.

Aircraft maker Boeing plans to double sourcing from India from the current
Value of $1 billion a year to $2 billion from over 200 suppliers, according to
Darren Hulst, Vice-President and Global Head of marketing for
Boeing Commercial Airplanes. These suppliers are manufacturing high-end
systems and Components for some of Boeing’s most advanced products as part
of its Global supply chain.

So much for on-shore sourcing!!!

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/southwest-extends-737-max-flight-cancellations-through-early-august

Despite optimism over FAA comments about return to service,
which sent the stock up to the highest level since early December,
the narrative of mid-year flight is now starting to crack.

Randy Tinseth, vice president of commercial marketing at Boeing,
painted a wonderful story for Bloomberg earlier this week about how
the troubled 737 Max would return to service by mid-year.

Tinseth is paid by Boeing to tell happy stories, not sad ones.
His mid-year narrative of a return to service was a ploy by the company
to keep investors from dumping shares.

However, the narrative is now coming apart at the seams! That’s because,
on Thursday morning, Southwest Airlines extended cancellations of Max flights
from June to now early August, reported Reuters.

Southwest, the largest operator of Max jets, said all flights with the aircraft
were slated to return by June 6, have now been pushed back to August 10.

The delay will remove 371 weekday flights from its peak-day schedule of
more than 4,000 daily flight – during the carrier's summer travel season,
could affect profitability and lead to earnings revisions on the year.

Boeing CFO Greg Smith, on Wednesday, said the company would abandon
forward guidance as long as the planes remained grounded and production
halted.

Smith said when production of the planes restarts (still no clear timetable)
it would take two years to get the volume back to the pre-grounding level
of 57 planes per month.

And to make matters worse, the grounding of the planes and image
deterioration of the company led to zero new orders for jets in January.

Hmmm so do I remain at Renton, get paid for the easy money? Or do I get a head start & take my years of aerospace work experience to find stability with another job? Hmmmm decisions decisions... I think I’m going to take the grandfathered in Boeing mentality approach. Milk Boeing until I really get laid off. Than I’ll compete with the many other thousands of other too laid off Boeing employees in search of a new job. Worst comes to worst, I’ll just sit on my lazy a– collect unemployment. Start selling off my toys to get by until Boeing calls me back. Yeah sounds like a plan!

The culture will change at Boeing. Not in a good way but it will change. If the company wants to treat it's employees the way it does it will not last. The current management are useless beings who ride on the coat tails of the people who built the company up. I will milk them for every last drop.

Boeing discloses SEC probe; toxic culture raises flags
https://www.complianceweek.com/regulatory-enforcement/boeing-discloses-sec-probe-toxic-culture-raises-flags/28390.article
Mon, Feb 3, 2020 9:11 AM

In a Jan. 31 Form 10-K, Boeing disclosed “multiple legal actions” have been filed
against it as a result of the Oct. 29, 2018, accident of Lion Air Flight 610 and
The March 10, 2019, accident of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302.
The company notes the DOJ and SEC are among regulators probing the accidents.

Other employees painted a picture of Boeing’s toxic culture.
For example, one employee said, “‘I don’t know how to fix these things.
It’s systemic. It’s culture.
It’s the fact we have a senior leadership team that understand
Very Little About the Business and yet are Driving Us to Certain Objectives.”’

"Not one person has been laid off"

Let's address that with the first of many lies that have been told. Dave said "we are going to keep spending on new products"
Then he sends the NMA "back to the drawing board"

With that, the NMA has let go almost ALL of their contractors. While these don't count as "layoffs" since they are contractors, but they no longer work at Boeing none the less. Call it what you want, they have reduced headcount.

Others on the NMA have seen the writting on the wall, many direct employees have put in their notices as well.

To a lesser extent, people on other programs and other sites are following their lead. By the time this is over, they won't need a layoff, as probably 10-20% will leave on their own. Saves them severance pay.

If you are too blind to see, Boeing management are making things miserable (in Renton) especially jumping down hour throats about useless projects. They hope you will get frustrated enough to leave on your own.

Look around, our competitors are holding job fairs in all of our sites around the country. Trying to capitalize on the frustration. If you see one pop up, I urge you to go, take another job somewhere else.

Good Luck

Management down your throat? But I though Dave said that that type of culture was just in "pockets" of the company? This is not representative of the Boeing company.

Maybe before making statements like that, he should ask around.
