Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Speaking during Boeing’s 2019 earnings call on 29 January

https://www.flightglobal.com/air-transport/boeing-still-deciding-which-market-segment-its-next-aircraft-should-target/136438.article

Chief Executive David Calhoun insists the company will not design its
Next aircraft purely as a response to the hugely-popular Airbus A321neo.

“We have asked the team to step back and reassess our commercial product
development strategy to determine what family of airplanes will be needed in
the future,” - Calhoun says.

For several years Boeing talked of launching the NMA, an aircraft with 270 seats
and 4,000-5,000nm (7,400-9,300km) range. But the 737 Max grounding delayed
the NMA beyond an ideal mid-2020s launch, and in the meantime Airbus attacked
the mid-market niche with the 2019 launch of its A321XLR.

Boeing will not make a knee-jerk reaction by rushing an aircraft to compete
with the A321XLR, according to Calhoun.

“This is a decision [that] me and our new commercial aircraft leader
wanted to make.
We will not design our next airplane on the basis of the A321,” he says.
“I know where the NMA is targeted now. I want to be sure I understand
everything about the wide body, narrow body world.”

Without addressing specifics, Calhoun insists Boeing’s next aircraft
program will leverage tools that will significantly “differentiate” it from
competing products.

By All Means, Draw Your Own Conclusions, as to the competency of our CEO
David Calhoun

“Boeing will not make a knee-jerk reaction” Like he and others did with (Max)?

“We will not design our next airplane to compete with the A 321XLR”????

David Calhoun, Boeing’s CEO Said
“I want to be sure I understand everything about the Wide Body,
Narrow Body world.” ?????????????

(IMHO) The Max Fraud and the inept handling of the aftermath is the beginning
of the end of our beloved Boeing.
In his own words David Calhoun clearly expresses how far out of his depth he is,
how he ever got A position on the Boeing Board is {way} beyond me.
Shareholders should run, as Banks wince from his comments. The End is Near.

In the last two decades The Boeing Board of Misfit Miscreants have feasted on
The fruit from the vines planted and tended to by generations past. They have
Drank the wine and gorged themselves on the grapes while ignoring the vineyard

There is no new harvest; the barrels are near empty; the bowls of grapes have
turned into raisins and the vines are barren, (PPPPPP).

Boeing is burning while Dave Calhoun diddles, making foolish proclamations.
Boeing’s Senate; The Misfit Miscreants Minds have been dulled, from the excess
of wine and the leaded pipes from which they drink their fill while pretending.
Let me think, they say aloud, we do not want to compete with our competitor.
I do not understand this world of narrow and wide body Calhoun says aloud
I must think awhile about this wide and narrow thing and what we shall do now.
Stop the NEXT here and now, we do not wish to compete it’s too much work now.

Experts question whether Boeing’s board of directors is capable of righting
The Company.
Investigations, lawsuits and news stories revealing festering internal problems
Had Piled Up.
The prolonged hesitance to fire Muilenberg in the face of the spiraling crises
Underscores concerns about the board’s oversight of the company, It also raises
questions about the board’s culpability in the tragedies.

Dave Calhoun, a Boeing director for a decade and Muilenburg’s eventual
replacement, later told reporters. “And we stayed with it and we stayed with it,
and then we got into December, where we really did have sort of a schedule that
was committed to in a really big way.”

Consumer advocate Ralph Nader, doesn’t buy such excuses,
Calling Boeing’s board “completely culpable.”
“Why should [Boeing] keep the old regime that ratified all of the problems
under Muilenburg?” he asked. “The whole board should resign.”

Boeing’s board, while not lacking in name recognition or business prowess,
Has drawn criticism for a seeming deficit of technical, safety and engineering
Expertise.
That’s a byproduct of Jim McNerney, a longtime GE administrator who, in 2005,
became Boeing’s first chief executive without an aviation background

Opinion
[“Seeming deficit of technical, safety and engineering expertise”]
The word “Seeming” does not fit the Board narrative in this context.
There is No engineering technical or safety expertise in the Boeing Board.

I do know of managers in 4-21 and 4-22 who are far better qualified to manage
To manage the stewardship for this area of Boeing’s business sector.
But since their too busy to sit in on The Boards Mimosa sipping morning
spin classes their advice is ignored and if sought would not be understood.

“The board you see today was largely created by McNerney,
and he packed it with people with zero engineering experience,”
Aboulafia said.

With all the flights being cancelled (some for months) due to the virus from china and the massive negative affect it will have on their economy lowering their currency and reducing their budget for nifty things like aircraft..

Boeing is using every loophole and every guise it can, not to spook shareholders.
Beginning in the 90’s the corporate mission priority was to generate revenue from
A inflated share value based on a perception of value and not the intrinsic value.

Deception is Boeing’s first commandment, not safety and certainly not quality.
Boeing’s MOA for higher profits using the stock market is the street corner
Three-Shell Game, it is subterfuge.
Envious of the high flying tech stocks and {The Quick Money} those companies
made, Boeing moved its corporate offices closer to the Market Trading Centers
of Chicago, quickly trading in their flight suits for the costumes of Wall Street to
gather more devotee’s to the Boeing Cult. Inducting shallow minds with large
fortunes to invest, helped gather momentum for the New Boeing Cause,
That of making money with the least amount of work, larger shareholder returns
and Larger Bonuses. A Ponzi scheme.

In its stock Boeing now holds a tremendous amount of intangible wealth.
Like so many other tech companies, only now Boeing has virtually no sales to
Support their inflated share price; there is no value to the stock.
Boeing stock is now speculative, with a shady company backing that stock.

I'm pretty damn surprised there hasn't been anything official about layoffs yet.

The cuts so far are from Vendor Management and many are NMA contractors. We have been told that ex 737 MAX workers will permanently fill these positions once filled by contractors.

LOL, if those 737 MAX workers had the education and expertise of the contractors they would have been hired in NMA . The current NMA is dead and we now know it. Several key NMA engineers have turned in their notices and the rest are dazed and worried.

If the banks can control the damage the stock price might hold above $275, but we could see $150 this year.

Oh come on. They most likely cut NMA to reduce cost. They don't give a flying f**k about the future. They want profits now.
