They won't find new jobs. The union has conditioned them (even in such a short time) that they should stay home and wait for mother Boeing to call them back.

I wish they would find other jobs, that would show Boeing how difficult it is to find skilled union labor, but it won't happen.

“I dare them to do this.
With all the money these guys have invested into new hires... ha...
Wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of those people leave and find new jobs. Unemployment is pretty low.
Just in general, prepare to lose most of your workforce and have fun trying to ramp back up, dip sh–s”

You act as if you and the rest of the clowns at the lazy B are valuable. I worked wirh some of the laziest entitled ignorant little girls at Boeing.
I’m so glad I made the decision to leave and go work in commercial space.
I wouldn’t fly on a Boeing Aircraft if you paid me.
All the shady rework and cover ups I saw while working there has told me everything I need to know about Boeing and it’s incompetent work force.

If the line shuts down, it will never restart.

The MAX will be dead.

They have to give 60 day notices due to the past. I just came out of our morning meeting being told that the company is going to try to bypass the union contract to protect the younger workers and screw everyone else who has time especially the one they want gone and fire as many people as they can they dont care !

Article 22, a good read, you can be surplus at any time for 14 days with or without application of procedures stated in the agreement.

Wow, it only took 9 months, but the doomsayers predictions will be right. They only got it wrong what...30, 40 times when they gave dates that they knew "for sure" it was going to happen.

Congrats, you are right now. I hope that keeps the heat on and food on the table...oh wait, that can only happen when you sell your boats and jet skis

“No immediate employee layoffs were anticipated, this person said, because of the previously scheduled closing of the 737 assembly plant in Renton, Wash., for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The holiday break typically lasts about two weeks.”

So, possibly just telling employees not to come in on the 2nd, until further notice, or they’ll fire them after the break.

How would this work? Can they furlough union employees or will just serve 60 day lay-off notices and say not to come to work? And if the plant restarts before 60 days then rescind the notices?
