Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Is anyone actually willing to relocate?

Relocation is insanely costly these days, and the chances of keeping your job after uprooting yourself and your family are extremely low. It’s just another attrition tactic. Refusing to relocate plays into leadership’s hands, but going along with it is even more senseless.

They dont actually want you to relocate. Your job is in India.

@1a4 you sound obsessed with oriskany. You do know oriskany isnt the only location they closed right? Now maybe you can wipe the drool from your lip and obsess over something else. Yours truly, signed a bi--h from Oriskany who probably told your little bi--h a-s how to do your job daily. Your welcome

@a9 I know some managers (female) who moved from the now defunct Oriskany to other locations because they are so ridiculously incompetent they wouldn’t be able to get jobs anywhere else.

Some years back i worked for JPM Chase, they paid 100 people 10k each to relocate to texas. A year later everyone was let go. Never move for a company.

@vh exactly. This place has zero loyalty to its employees. So lets drive two hours or uproot for them smh You’ll be on the chopping block for their RTO requirement the minute your a-s hits bad weather or something else and cant make that ridiculous drive.

@tg
Spending money on BNY and living apart for days from your family.
You are a half wit.

I'm in the interview process with BNY for a position that is a 2 hour plus drive each way to the HUB office location. If I get the position, I'm not going to sell my house and move closer for the reasons others have mentioned. My wife and I love our current home and location and don't want to move just to start over again shortly after the move if laid off. Instead, I'll probably rent a studio apartment locally close to the office to spend a couple nights a week in to make the distance more manageable.

If you’re being asked to relocate you are being targeted for termination. Most people that actually do move lose their jobs within months of moving anyway. They don’t want you to move.

Better question, who actually trusts this leadership enough to relocate? And — are you willing to pay for this on your own?
Scarce few would.

No way.
Here you are simple a firing waiting to happen. Are they going to give good remuneration and incentives, to move? NO.
You would be foolhardy to relocate for this leadership.

Women tend to stay put unless there is an incentive to move

IF…… this was the BNY of yesteryear where you were valued and given money and career incentives to relocate, then sure. It would be worth it. And… if this was the BNY of yesteryear, you could also decline and cite a reason not to relocate and you would have been just fine and respected on the decision. I knew several people offered a jump in salary to relocate to NJ but some didnt want to. No matter. They were good to go and valued.
But now!! you are dealing with an unscrupulous, scheming, immoral, lying, underhanded, dirty set of con artists who think of you as property more than a person.
You relocate for this place and you are just fool jumping out of a plane with no parachute.
Don’t do it.
