I'm being pushed out

I have no other explanation for what's been going on. Within a few weeks, my manager went from normal to micromanaging my every move. He finds faults in everything I do, even the things I did hundreds of times before the exact same way and he never... — read more

GBC's in FREEFALL

As if it could not get any worse, many GSC locations have the highest attrition EVER. In Brazil, the rates are 2 PER DAY (at least for a while), meaning we cannot possibly backfill these people in a normal scenario, let alone an 8% NSI. Argentina... — read more

About to resign in Midland

Was holding out for return of cost of living adjustment and 401k as well as education reimbursement but am tired of waiting. Other companies are paying more than we were making prior to COVID base salary plus have 401k and bonuses. Some have already... — read more

This place has gone to hell in a handbasket

I'm not even talking about the obvious stuff, like layoffs and cuts in pay and benefits. I'm talking about our culture. We once had a culture that encouraged new ideas, but that has since devolved into an echo chamber of yes-men who are bending over... — read more

Another refinery closing

Australia first now Norway. Dominos keep falling. For those saying demand hasn’t peaked what are your thoughts? Certainly it has peaked in parts of the world. https://mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN2BV22Q

Vacine form

The manager of my group said that we need to complete the Vacine form. He said it’s anonymous but he does not know the consequences if we don’t complete. What type of company are we working for?

Why so NEGATIVE?

So much negativity here.. it looks like EM is going to wind up. BUT that’s not true.. Darren Woods and EM will be FINE. Just whiny NSI & Salty employees affecting the image of our great company. We are ExxonMobil!

It's a leadership problem, not a company problem

I don't have a problem with Exxon. I've been here for decades and I've been through many good times and many bad times with it. I do have a problem with lousy leadership that makes decisions which make working here unbearable at times. That's where... — read more

Upcoming Forum Slido

Kudos to GS for allowing anonymous questions in his upcoming forum. Pretty amazing to read the questions and see the upvotes. The company has lost the rank and file. I've never seen morale this low.

Saw something interesting on campus today

Normally WFH, but supervisor has started to force us in office. Walked through energy center and saw lunches outside of a conference room, which was odd. Saw senior corporate management names on them. Then saw 3 shiny new SUVs and 4 shiny town cars... — read more

Darren Woods

Darren Woods is more like Darrin, the fictional character from Bewitched. He was Samantha's mortal husband. Nice enough guy but he had no control over his wife's escapades, the same way this Darren has no control or influence over the outcomes at... — read more

Is it time to leave the industry?

I know a lot of people who left XOM in the past year and almost all of them found a job outside the O&G industry. It’s obvious that all of those people were actively looking for other jobs while still employed at the company, which brings me to the... — read more

Advice on leaving a role for 40-50% overall decrease

Hello, I am an engineer, but may have an opportunity to go work in pharma as a production supervisor with 10 direct reports. It’s a way into management. The salary will be a 40-50% decrease along with bonus. Any words of wisdom? My long term goal is... — read more

Leave when you can

I was laid off in Dec and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I worked at Exxon for about 2 years - I drank the koolaid at first but I slowly realized just how terrible this company is (environmentally, ethically, you name it). I feel such... — read more

What do you get out of it?

I'm not trying to troll, I'm honestly curious. People who come here and call anybody who's complaining a whiner or tells them to leave - why are you here? You wouldn't be here unless something was bothering you about the company. If you're here, it's... — read more

How do you feel?

I am still at ExxonMobil. I used to wake up excited for the future. Now I feel a sense of dread and find it hard to get out of bed in the morning. There is little to look forward to.

Supplementary Savings Plan Vesting

First Voya told me I'm vested in my (very small) supplementary savings plan since separation was involuntary, and payment would be done through payroll. Now, payroll is telling me that employees who separate from ExxonMobil before retirement are not... — read more

More mid-level career folks leaving

Thought it was only the newer hires 5 years that we’re leaving, but seeing a trend of folks with 10-20 years in their mid career leaving as well, especially with EMIT. Anyone seeing similar?

I used to be proud to work here

I have to say, this is not the same company it was five years ago, not to mention twenty years ago or longer. All of the enjoyment and pride I've had has evaporated and I'm no longer sure I'll be able to stay here for much longer. It might not be... — read more

We are lucky to have such great jobs.

Please stop spreading toxic beliefs about quiting. Truth is this is the best place to work. Be happy you have a job. The market is tough right now. Not that easy to find a new better paying job

CONTROLLERS LETS SHOW EVERYONE WHAT WE REALLY DO.

So many posts question what controllers and finance people actually do. Thinking they should get rid of us and send our jobs over seas. Ok fine. As close stars, how about we sit on our butts and see how quarter close and reporting gets done. License... — read more

Say you will take the PIL if you are NSIed now

Tell your supervisor ahead of ranking that you think you would take the PIL if you are NSIed. VPs know we are lean and instructing subordinates to encourage folks to take the PIP and it can be passed - the yes men won’t tell Dallas we can’t support... — read more

More layoffs

I know the company leadership (and I use that term very loosely) said there'll be no major layoffs any time soon, but i'm worried about the emphasis on the "major" part. Does that mean that from now on, we can expect constant smaller layoffs that'll... — read more

DONT QUIT YOUR JOB, JUST QUIT WORKING

Don't quit. Just stop doing a good job. Show them how much they really need you. Use the time to look for a job. Take them for any penny you can squeeze. GET PIPED then take that money too and smile on your way out to a better life

I'm not gunning for a promotion

Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one who is not gunning for a promotion - I even politely turned down an offer a year or so ago. My reason? I see my manager and I see other people in positions above mine breaking their backs to get everything... — read more

XTO IS COOKED AND BLACKENED.
