How good is Retiree Medical, really?

A lot of the old hands always talked about how important that supplemental retiree medical coverage from EM is. I’ve also heard the premiums have gone up significantly in recent years, so is this statement still true?

I'm just going to be honest...

I've been with ExxonMobil for more than 40 years (I will be 67 in a few months). Yes, I realize that makes me a Baby Boomer, but save your criticism. I know I should retire, especially given the state of the company, but I don't want to. The pay is... — read more

LT giving off cycle increment

Heard on the grapevine they are giving an off cycle increment in China. Not sure what is the increment like and any other affiliates getting this as well?

20% attrition rate this year in Brussels

20% of the workforce has applied for the voluntary severance package. 15% had the chance to get it. In the meantime 5% has also already resigned this year outside of the layoff scheme. So we are at -20% with an additional 5% having given their... — read more

Onshore/offshore model totally failing

If there is something the onshore / offshore model at ExxonMobil has proved it is that it is not working and is not efficient Be it HR, admin or IT related tasks it takes weeks and months of back and forth efforts to get an answer where it would... — read more

Leaving the industry

I'm at the point where I'm not only ready to leave XOM but the entire industry. Let's face it, working in O&G was never a cakewalk but the industry has been especially brutal for employees in the past decade or so. Just going to another O&G company... — read more

KLTC Lazy Scrounging

Who else is sick of KLTC’s jobsworth and lazy scrounging? They take a pay cheque and deliver little to no real value (apart from the odd report etc, which no one reads anyway). No attempt to try and improve systems or take initiative, just... — read more

This place has become unrecognizable

The company, culture, and environment began to rot from the inside several years ago. This place has become unrecognizable over the past 10+ years. I use to enjoy and have fun coming to work and working with the people here. Slowly the company began... — read more

Eternal study on Midland Premium

We sure can cut benefits quickly but it takes eternal study to bring them back. I heard today keep sending out those applications to competitors. Yeah being overworked isn’t exciting. Top of mind? Looking hard at it? How about some decisive... — read more

Thread of morale boosters that cost $0

Since management seems to struggle with thinking of ways to boost morale except jeans and t-shirts, let’s start a thread with ideas. I’ll go first. WFH on Monday’s and Friday’s, or at least Friday Casual attire every day No company-wide... — read more

This UBS Forum is a joke

The answers to these Q&As is absolutely ridiculous and a complete joke. None of these leaders are actually answering the questions and/or owning up to the failures and concerns and what employees want. What an awful way to try to retain employees... — read more

Some people here confuse me

I know people hate their jobs here, I know our management leaves a lot to be desired, but how does wishing bad things on the company and hoping it fails in everything it does help you? As bad as this job is, it's a (relatively decently) paying job... — read more

Tone deaf HR

I would just like to thank HR for sending me a letter congratulating me on my retirement from ExxonMobil, when I was laid off in February. Nice. Twist that dagger a little more.

Advice from somebody who's been here far too long

I see a lot of younger employees bending over backward to do everything that is asked of them, whether it's a part of their jobs or not. You need to stop this. This "can you do this for me once please" exception will turn into something that is... — read more

No more PIL option?!

Hearing lots of rumors around campus that the whole PIL thing where you can leave and take 3 months of money instead of going through the PIP is not happening this year? Can anyone confirm/comment?

How many have sent resumes out

I wonder what percentage of current employees have applied to jobs. What percentage of current employees show up at work but are not giving their all anymore. Once loyal employees who now feel disgusted by what they’ve seen and fear it is inevitable... — read more

15% attrition acceptable to HR

Up to 15% attrition is considered to not be a problem by HR. They will only look at benefit changes if we exceed 15% voluntary attrition. Don’t include 8% PIP and retirements.

Clock is about to strike midnight in Midland

Management promised they would address the 30% pay cut in Midland. Yet silence is deafening. At least tell us when a decision will be made. Patience is like air in a sealed room. No matter how much you start with, eventually you will run out.

Focus on What You Can Control

“Focus on what you can control” is a common line spouted by EM management. It’s good advice, and people should follow it. If your immediate supervisor or 1-2 levels up is no good, if your salary/benefits/work environment Needs Significant... — read more

So sick and tired of this

It seems as if management doesn’t care about how hard we work. All they do is keep pushing for more, more, more while complaining about the smallest issues. They have no idea what we have to do in order to make them look good. They don’t care as long... — read more

Insert meme of a dog in a burning room: This is fine.

*The 2021 Fortune 500 list of the largest U.S. companies is out this morning, and while there was no change at the very top—Walmart landed at No.1 and Amazon at No.2, just like last year—there was huge turmoil underneath. Exxon Mobil, which has been... — read more
