You need to set aside ego and begin acknowledging the high global attrition, the oversubscribed voluntary programs and the clear messages coming from below of a demoralized dejected workforce. You need to set aside the glossy powerpoints on why this... — read more

Resigning to work for a competitor
After zero deliberation... I've decided to resign to work for a competitor in a tangential career for a significant pay increase (40%). I honestly did not expect the offer, but that only made the decision all the easier. The situation at the... — read more
I'm out

Improve performance through training not PIP
If the company was trying to help us improve performance they would allow us to take training rather than put us on PIPs. What a joke. PIP is to reduce headcount nothing more. If they put you on PIP may as well walk. You are marked forever and will... — read more
The psychology behind why some leaders are resisting a hybrid work model
https://fortune.com/2021/06/08/return-remote-work-hybrid-model-surveys-covid/
I've really liked my work here and this is not ironic.
I'm seven years this month and have been highly rated and promoted. But I'm extremely stressed out about the ranking/rating process and Pips and all. I took off last friday and started on a bender last thursday night. Not like me at all. So... — read more

I wish I browsed this site when I was at EM
If I had routinely read these posts when I was a new hire, I might have had a shot at realizing that so much of the ranking system is political. I might have understood that there are employees who sabotage and lie. I might have understood how the... — read more

Middle Career Woes
Middle career, and not quite committed to leave yet. Giving it a couple of years to see if this mess can be put back together. But the more I think about this: 0-5 yrs resigned. 5-10 years thinning due to attrition. 20-30 years not going anywhere... — read more

Thoughts on AT&T wifi going away?

Additional Structural cost savings
They have removed 401K, cut costs at all operating assets beyond belief, taken away COLA, expat reductions, given no pay raises apart from the MC, etc. How else can they squeeze another few billion. We all know the dividend would be cut.
