Ever been to a retirement party?

In my 10yrs at Cisco, I've never even heard of a retirement party. I think the chance for being LR'd or quitting (read: fed up) is too great. Actually, I have heard of one, when MPLS "retired" from their spin-ins. But outside of those four, nobody... — read more

Does Cisco "owe" me anything? Only respect.

Stop drinking the cool-aid. There IS a company-level conspiracy. Cisco USED to let go of the bottom 5%. Normally, that's a good thing. Get rid of those that don't perform. Stinks when you're on a great team and even above average performance and... — read more

I got hit with the last round of LR in 2016!

Best thing that happened to me. True about the management though. In a BU of 55 engineers, 9 got laid off, 8 of them Americans, and the other Americans in the team got relocated, leaving just 1 token American in the BU left out of about 44. HR... — read more

Bangalore SPVSS

L&T are in the frame to take most of Bangalore SPVSS people as red badges. If they do not go to red badge status AND move to Chennai..... they are doomed.

Cisco will never recover

The culture and environment that Chuck & Co have created is so toxic. This once great place to work will never recover. I was LR'd last August after 11 years at Cisco. I wanted out of that awful environment so I began my job search in April of last... — read more

Lot of people complaining about bias towards 50+, In DCG - 4 university grads (joined this spring) with an heap of student debt were shown the door. Its such a shame for any company to fire new young talent. They had no clue what had hit them. If you... — read more

Consider an EEOC action

If what is being said has some bases in fact about using "layoffs" as a pretense for replacing older workers with younger ones, then this appears to be a strong case for an age discrimination EEOC action. My words may not be more than just "venting"... — read more

LR was the best thing happened to me!

I got my package in the last round of LR and found a job within a month with a Cisco competitor. Almost a year later I gotta say the LR was the best thing that happened to me at Cisco. Get out of the sinking boat while you can!

I feel like I've been offered a golden lifeboat

I got LR'd today from SP test. I'm pushing 50 but not there yet. I'm not sure of the scale yet. I've been with cisco for a long time and I've worked from home for the last several years which I consider a huge blessing. I don't know if it was my age... — read more

Patterns

Got LRed at 56. When they walked us out the door I turned around and it looked like the demographics of people leaving the men's room at a Garth Brooks concert. Grey hair, male pattern baldness and distinctly white.

1000+ LR-ed

We saw over 1000 people laid off at our location over the years. The big ones have come this time of year and after the FY. Buttt Cisco will lay off any time of the year in small unannounced layoffs. They have made that very clear over the years. You... — read more

That speaks for itself

I left Cisco on my own after 13 years and returned to Oracle... After a 15 year hiatus. Did you know that 100% of all the managers and their management chain I had at oracle are still at Oracle 20 years later, and ZERO percent of my Cisco managers... — read more

October Rumor

Heard something big is going to happen in Oct on the collab side.

50 + at Cisco? Beware.

If you are over 50 at Cisco, you are the ones most likely to get laid off. They lay off mostly the 50+ that drain the health insurance, then sprinkle a few millennials so it doesn't look like ageism. The only consolation after 12- years of working... — read more

Perspectives from a LR'd guy...

To any Cisco-ite who is facing the dreaded 1:1...I was LR'd/RIF'd/WFR'd last August, and while I wrestled with a strange range of emotions -- anger, betrayal, relief, elation -- I will say that in hindsight it was the best thing to happen to me... — read more

1:1 Schedules

there are 1:1's schedule for the 18th in the US and many other countries. Europe and some of the countries won't get notified for a while as their are EU approvals that are necessary. This will be an odd timing for LR as it may (probably) short... — read more

How long can the wool be pulled over?

It looks like the markets are starting to realise Cisco can't turn this decline in revenues around as easily as first believed. We all knew this already though. However the elephant in the room still is this BS about transitioning to software! Are we... — read more

Bonus

I think cisco is going to screw us by not paying the Bonus this year to save money... any thoughts?

DataCenter Business closing?

Is It closing the DataCenter business in near future? Looking into the hardware dependencies & making a shift to software only model, it looks close in the near future.
