Sell the steamer?

Why not sell the big boy and all the rest of the steam engine equipment? To cut more costs , I say sell all the steam engines.

Trading a life for the money

That is how I would characterize the work at UP. My pay is decent and I am satisfied, but I have no more life. Everyone who intends to come here should know that they will probably do the worst shifts. Well, that's railroad for you, but it seems... — read more

Why are you still at UP?

In this day and age, when you could take your skills to any other company (and industry) and be welcomed with open arms, you make the conscious decision to stay here every day. Why? It was never easier to leave, so why aren't you doing something... — read more

BLE or UTU.

Which union is more worthless? In San Antonio we pay union dues for worthless union representation. All they are good for is laying off union on the weekends and holidays.

Unpopular opinion, but true

Why would you think the company cares about anything other than making money. The company is very profitable, and this is not debatable. Once the PSR has ran its course, there will be another downsizing plan. You can bet this is being planned... — read more

It's as simple as 2+2

It is very difficult to explain

I could somehow understand it all if UP wasn't doing well financially. However, why would a company that is doing very well financially treat its employees the way UP does? Such greed is impossible to comprehend.

I tested positive

But I am going to work anyways because we have no sick days and the RRB compensation sucks.
