Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

2026 final layoff numbers…..

Lots of post about not knowing the total layoff numbers for 2026. A few things:

  • There is no final number YET. Layoffs are still happening at least through the end of this month. Maybe into February.

  • Those impacted are technically are garden leave until April 2nd and are still on the payroll.

  • April 2nd, is when the RIF numbers will be in warn and when the media will start to report on it. That’s when you will get the final number of people let go.

No conspiracy or withholding information. That’s how the process works.

10k RIF is the rumor, we will see if it’s true.

The final numbers that T-Mobile will provide will not be correct because it will only be those positions that they say have been eliminated. The number will not include those that are being forced to relocate to an HQ location and not accept the relocation because it is not the best for them. This would just be counted as a resignation.

@ay This - exactly this. I was one of these people.

I've been having tough conversations with my employees telling them just that. It literally doesn't matter if you work hard and are loyal. The favor won't be returned and the sooner people adjust their expectations and start living for themselves vs "the company", the better

"I see too many people working way too hard for a company who wouldn’t think twice about letting you go. People with 20+ years of experience without hesitation. We are just numbers to them and can easily be replaced.

I maintain my mental health as top priority sure and we all must do what’s best for us and self interests"

At the end of the day, legacy Tmobile has drastically changed and ruined their own brand and employee trust. Tmobile sold out and became exactly what we said we would never. We’re just another carrier as far as I’m concerned. The C level is banking on AI to take off and to replace that workload we just lost.

“Do it the right way”

What part of that is laying people off without any notice?

Has anyone searched for the ”final numbers” in the ”January 20th Super Thread”, @OP+1kfds11er ? I thought the instructions were to post the information in that thread. Not sure how everything got sidetracked.

@ae You must be a mo--n to think you can order everyone on what to say or not to say on this site. This site exists precisely to air our complaints and concerns on layoff topics. Looks like you want to shut our mouths from telling the truth.

No one has given you the power to be a moderator. But you surely are a su-k-up for top management.

You may think that T-Mobile is just a profit-making monster with no soul that does not owe anybody anything. T-Mobile owes us all - there is much it owes to employees, customers, investors and others. It wouldn't exist if it were not for these stakeholders.

@aa so many people out here whining and complaining.

If you are not impacted be grateful you have a job.

How is knowing the number impacted make your life better?

Nobody owes you anything. If you think Srini and team could have done better let them know. If you’re unhappy here leave.

FYI as messed up as it is here, it’s equally bad or worse at most other places.

Whining and complaining on an anonymous board isn’t productive and solves nothing. Either bring real solutions to the table, find a new job or STFU.

This message is for everyone complaining that you are owed something

@OP is either from management or a bootlicker trying to justify how things are done at T-Mobile.

If you want to know how things should be done with transparency when layoffs happen, read the following memo from Verizon CEO, Dan Shulman, written to all employees.
www.verizon.com/about/news/building-stronger-verizon
In this memo, Dan Shulman, was transparent about eliminating 13,000 jobs starting in November 2025.

No, they did not say to go look at the WARN notices after 3 months to get the estimate of laid off employees.

No, they did not say that all layoffs are not yet done, so we cannot give any numbers. They said upfront the total number of layoffs planned.

What Verizon did is what companies do when they plan large number of layoffs. They state up front how many positions they plan to eliminate. Do a search and you will find plenty of such transparent announcements.

Now look at what T-Mobile did. All they did was to confirm "some changes while continuing to hire". No numbers, no transparency to its employees and shareholders. No rationale about why the layoffs are happening. No one is looking for the exact number of positions eliminated to the digit. They could have at least given a rough estimate. 1,000? 2,000? 5,000? 10,000?

If this is not withholding information and being evasive, what is?
