I'll be honest, i'm not feeling great about this announcement. Ive seen it before at previous companies and when this happens, majority of the opportunities dry up and most new positions open overseas. Wondering if anyone has an idea of what's going to go down. Are they planning layoffs? What areas are they planning on offshoring?

I just saw this in a news article on The Hartford Hyderabad office. " In February 2026, focusing on AI, digital innovation, and engineering. The center spans 1.6 lakh sq ft, designed for rapid prototyping and collaboration with U.S. hubs. It plans to grow to 1,200 employees over the next few years." 1200 employees seems large and based on that does it mean basically large-scale cuts in Hartford/Charlotte IT positions.
This would allow HIG to manage smartly their employee cost. By having an India center they can employ less Americans, H1Bs in USA and pay less to employees from consulting companies in USA. Paying $100K as fee per H1B worker hired by HIG makes no sense whatsoever.
