Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Layoffs

All this talk of layoffs have been all talk and false. We are all safe as long as you want to be here. The big issue is no one is talking about how employees are being treated. Employees have been treated bad ever since Sprint merger and the rollout of the area model and the 6 other versions around the company. Still no word on the employee survey results. It had to be bad, yes we have jobs but are treated badly. All leadership should be put on PIP...ALL.

please do away with the CRT position, useless work being performed.

Anyone above IC knows exactly the ranking of members of teams. SLT and directors decide where to cut. It's about the same time as being discredited on this page in 2023 talking about June and it ended up in September. Save your PTO if you think you'll be cut make it a liability to pay out.

Layoffs are about to happen…. This person isn’t in the know.

"We are all safe as long as you want to be here."

This is 100% inaccurate. Everyone is just a number, everyone is dispensable and more layoffs are absolutely on the horizon. This is the reality.

For all those laid off, you're right: it didn't have to happen! We could have let Sprint go under; bought the spectrum; saved money; and not have to absorb thousands of people. I also don't need free "swag"; I need help - tired and frustrated doing the work of two.
And before A-kissers say it, I am looking elsewhere.

I used to have this mindset OP until I was laid off. Now I’m up in the middle of the night wondering how I’m going to pay basic expenses next month. Best stock price ever, free daily lunches, and yet another dominating MVNO merger. Some of us participated in that success and still were cut. Strangest RIF I’ve ever encountered.

If you truly feel mistreated then talk to your manager about it. Use common feedback techniques instead of playing the victim. Gosh!

It does appear that there are lingering frustrations with the ”merger”, and issues with the ”area model”. A lot of great honest feedback in the threads below.

The layoffs will continue. If you think otherwise then just look at past history since the merger. Layoffs every year with massive layoffs every two years. It won't stop. Your job is not safe. Performance doesn't matter. Profit matters and every single employee above retail is cutting into that profit. Plus, after all the layoffs T-Mobile is still making money and kicking butt. The truth is they were right to layoff all those employees and they will continue to do so. Keep your resume close...

As for the notion that CRT refers to Critical Race Theory, well, that assumption betrays a glaring bias and a profound ignorance of the context at hand. It’s a leap as misguided as mistaking a pawn for a queen in a high-stakes game of chess.

You see, the mention of the "area model" is a critical clue, akin to a hidden cipher in a cryptic letter. It unmistakably points to someone ensconced in the labyrinthine corridors of a Network Engineering & Operations organization, likely within a regional or market team.

Armed with this nugget of knowledge and a keen grasp of the intricacies of the area model's deployment, it becomes abundantly clear that CRT isn't just a random assortment of letters or a social and political lightning rod. No, it stands for the Customer Response Team, an integral cog within the machinery of the area model.

Critical Race Theory.

But given Sprint's methods, it's likely Cathode Ray Tube or Cathode Ray Terminal.

My area mentioned the survey. “Best results yet!” (With the BRAND NEW QUESTIONS and format we rolled out with after not even having a survey for a year. And “we’ll be digging into some of our responses.” (Never gonna happen.

To be clear it wasn't all roses at legacy T-Mobile. Abdul was famous for saying in an all hands that PTO was "Pretend Time Off".

Agreed on the treatment of employees but not on the assumption there will be no layoffs.

I was told last year and the year prior that we were all safe by leadership. Not long after our group was impacted both times. Often managers and directors are not told what is happening until the month of layoffs if not the week or day of. Especially if they’re also impacted.

Absolutely true! You can’t be biggest telecom company making money left right and center and then treat employees badly..survey surely pointed that and everyone is mum
