Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Potential cuts in Media EMEA

There’s been a lot of talk about potential cuts and ongoing disruption again within One PEP Media EMEA... Has anyone heard anything concrete?

Between the uncertainty, shifting priorities, and general workload, many people seem pretty exhausted. I know that most of the chaos is caused by Josep Hernandez being unable to support his team, but there's a lot of uncertainty.

@m3 I’m so sorry you had to go through such a terrible experience. Frankly, while escalating the issue might seem like the logical step, we both know the system rarely delivers fair outcomes in situations like this. I’ve heard far too many stories that mirror yours, which makes this feel less like an isolated incident and more like a recurring problem. In fact, your case sadly doesn’t even sound exceptional. It increasingly appears there is a pattern of pressuring people to the point where they feel forced to quit, something I’ve heard of the media team multiple times

Working under Hernandez's management is an exhausting experience. He claims to be accessible, yet he fails to communicate, provide direction, or offer even basic clarity. Expectations shift without warning, decisions lack consistency, and the team is left operating in constant confusion. Rather than fostering alignment or trust, his approach creates division, uncertainty and frustration. I get it, it's his toxic strategy to keep everyone on their toes

@m3 Is your manager Josep Hernandez’s protege, the UK manager?

@m3 I’m really sorry you’ve had to go through such a tough situation. That sounds incredibly stressful, especially while dealing with health issues on top of everything else. No job or manager should make someone feel that way. With the One pep media structure in place, I doubt the situation will get any better though

I work in media, and the level of stress in this role has seriously affected my health, ultimately contributing to an autoimmune disease. When I tried to discuss changing roles, my direct manager responded with ongoing gaslighting rather than support. After I shared that I was ill, the situation only worsened, the gaslighting increased, along with heavy micromanagement and a noticeable shift toward hostile behavior.

I later spoke with my manager’s superior to explore other opportunities, but the concerns I raised were again dismissed. To make matters worse, that conversation was relayed back to my direct manager, which led to aggressive emails and repeated public humiliation, often sent while copying multiple colleagues.

This has been especially difficult given that I have always been a high performer. The work environment has become deeply toxic, with leadership practices that appear to reward unquestioning agreement rather than capability or professionalism.

I’m now focused on finding a healthier workplace as I couldn't just leave without having another job...

@kh In Europe this is all the creation of Josep Hernandez who despite some few clear accomplishments has created a toxic organization

@jk Unfortunately this has been going on for years. The vast majority of leadership in the Media org are unredeemable.

@j6 Yes, I’ve seen many people from the media team cry in private meetings, completely breaking down emotionally. This is what happens when leadership lacks empathy

Layoffs? The European media team is already falling apart. People go on months-long sick leave, then abruptly resign and disappear from the company

There have already been some quiet layoffs across Media Europe, and more are coming with One pep media. No one is allowed to say anything. The problem is that the internal culture that has been cultivated is one of silence.. speak up and you risk losing your head. Ask for reasonable resources and you may find yourself isolated. This is a strategy leadership and Josep Hernandez has carefully fostered. I’ve watched many talented people leave because of him

Yes the flag mimics the Indian flag.

It’s obvious. Mass offshoring + more Indian leadership by the day.

As well as Indra initially starting the India movement.

Keep in mind India also has 1+ billion citizens, and is a developing economy (aka Sh1tH0le). This is 1 billion consumers PepsiCo can capitalize on.

Just piece it all together, it’s not a coincidence, it’s a strategic shift

@g7 You made me look. No, the new logo is not the colors of the Indian flag. But it DOES appear to be a compromise or combination of the colors of the Indian and American flags. Very interesting.

@g4 where are they all based. India.

This is by defacto an Indian organization.

Just look at the logo... It is of Indian colour flag

@f6 I really don't know why you guys complain here when you should take action. Look for other jobs. Indeed One Pep Media is Pepsico's way to cut some more jobs and overwork the remaining ones but we've seen that before

@f6 I'm so sorry to hear that. With the One Pep Media structure, everyone feels the same

@f0 Same here. I have around 10 stakeholders, 5 managers, no resources, I'm burned out and I feel alone. I have no one to talk to. Being in the media team is awful
