I work in media, and the level of stress in this role has seriously affected my health, ultimately contributing to an autoimmune disease. When I tried to discuss changing roles, my direct manager responded with ongoing gaslighting rather than support. After I shared that I was ill, the situation only worsened, the gaslighting increased, along with heavy micromanagement and a noticeable shift toward hostile behavior.
I later spoke with my manager’s superior to explore other opportunities, but the concerns I raised were again dismissed. To make matters worse, that conversation was relayed back to my direct manager, which led to aggressive emails and repeated public humiliation, often sent while copying multiple colleagues.
This has been especially difficult given that I have always been a high performer. The work environment has become deeply toxic, with leadership practices that appear to reward unquestioning agreement rather than capability or professionalism.
I’m now focused on finding a healthier workplace as I couldn't just leave without having another job...
