I am virtual and asked to move to Charlotte. How is this place in terms of Job, which schools are good, etc? Did anyone move recently?

Fort Mills is very safe and at one time was very reasonable but real-estate prices have gone up quite a bit. It is all relative to where you are moving from. If moving from California, New Jersey/New York you will do fine finding a decent home and much better prices. Fort Mills is also in the Bible Belt so you will find a mix there and is now diverse as a lot northerners have moved south.
Be aware that Charlotte is not a hub and will probably require those in noon-sales positions to relocate to Dallas or Atlanta to keep their jobs.
Charlotte is baich's invented hub. Never was on any hub list. If you move there, you are betting on a lot of things including baich staying. And if you look at his employment record, he's overdo to move on as he doesn't stay anywhere that long. Usually gone after some big breach and ATT has had several under his watch.
@fj Charlotte is a hellhole. I was there in december. I was told to my face dr-gs and prost---tion, I didn't believe it I drove down the street and saw it for myself. Run while you still can!
The hood got good schools and cops most daily.
We play pickleball and watch movies every day on company time. WE LOVE IT!
Let's just say every single person and family I know that moved to Atlanta ended up coming back to NC.
Charlotte is a beautiful city. Tons of parks, arts, concerts. I loved working and living there. Only left due to family issues, before Covid hit. If I moved back, Fort Mill is where I would look first. Concord second for easy trips to Raleigh.
They truly can't drive safely.
Not very many good school districts: Fort Mill, Ballantyne have good schools. Most locals seem to send their kids to private because there aren’t very many options for public schools. It’s a growing city. Many outdoor activity options. Only one airport which makes travel a bit unpredictable/many delays. Alpharetta - homes in good school districts quite expensive. Traffic is quite bad I hear. Similar weather to Charlotte. More diverse employment opportunities comparatively.
No location is safe except plano. If you want to think long term Dallas is best option.
How do you guys feel about Alpharetta? Would you recommend moving there instead of charlotte?
Charlotte is not long term location. It will go away after new plano campus. You better go to Dallas or leave T if they dont accept Dallas.
Go find a house on Lake Norman and then commute south into the office.
Does S. Carolina still have a combined sales tax of almost 13% in some areas?
I hear some places have a brutal sales tax south of the border from Charlotte.
Anybody moved to Charlotte, please respond. Time is tight.

Kids need good schools and we need Indian population.
Fort Mill, SC, is great area just a long drive to Research Dr, IBM Dr area.
You’ll be tempted to live in north near Lake Norman, but I-77 traffic is brutal.
Hot growth area is Hwy 521 between I485 down into South Carolina. Again, longer commute.
What org are you in that asked you to move to Charlotte? Stay out of mecklenburg county, anywhere else in the surrounding area is doable.
