Why centene managers are doing more micromanagement and have very high expectations. Is there too much pressure coming from top management. I have never worked with any company with this kind of work pressure

Micromanaging = someone isn’t doing there job = FRAUD = lawsuits = MASSIVE layoff prepare yourselves lay off are happening daily so don’t so don’t be surprised if you get an email advising to join a meeting that may be your final day , sad reality.
@as but if the people don't produce, the managers get no bonus. So that would seem pretty illogical to me . The production has to be there. The retention of members has to be there.... otherwise no bonus. The workflow has to happen, otherwise no bonus ... I don't see where people are coming up with this stuff.
Former employee who was pushed out in 2023. It's a two-fold issue. Centene is not a healthcare company - but a technology company that buys healthcare companies and pares them down to the minimum staffing to maximize profits. There are great medical professionals there, but a health insurer's first constituents should be members and providers, not shareholders. Add to that the promotion of less qualified people into management in the name of social justice, forced attrition and piling on of responsibilities on the competent people who actually do the work -- this pays short term benefits for shareholders but in the long run degrades the quality of care members receive. Anyone purchasing a Centene health plan through ACA marketplaces is buying a bad ticket. The turnover of small not-for-profit health plans around the country to companies like Centene is the real problem in the current healthcare market space.
I know workload is not evenly distributed and causing burnout. I see employees doing their best and others just sitting without a task or project to do. It’s not fair and everyone already knows who these people are. Glad that someone noticed.
While we haven’t been given direction to manage people out to avoid RIFs and severance, the company is absolutely taking aim at people skating by. So many have checked out. Maybe they’re burned out, maybe they’re over employed. Who knows. If you’re getting that kind of attention, somebody has noticed that you aren’t contributing as much as your peers.
@2s2 This is not natural attrition; it is constructive dismissal. Not replacing employees and adding the workload from those employees onto existing employees with no intention of replacing the employees that left is deliberate intent to get people burnt out and force them to eventually quit - CONSTRUCTIVE DISMISSAL

Going through the same in another department in corporate. It’s clear the angle is constructive dismissal (give as much negative feedback as possible to make it seem like you are underperforming) to get rid of people. It’s worse than I thought, they don’t even want to pay out severance for layoffs.
@124 Work from home isn't the be all end all. My advice? Get out of Centene - it's bad for your health, for real. Better yet - leave this industry entirely!
@OP Have you seen and or heard of this big, beautiful bill and have you seen unemployment rates. I am going to do everything they ask, I am sure if the government cuts all this funding I want to make sure I continue to get to work from home and still have a home.
I agree with other comments here. Have never seen a workplace with this level of micromanagement and stress. Some of the decision making I’ve witnessed really concerns me. There are a lot of people in management roles who should not have those jobs at this company, or any company really.
S**t rolls downhill. The toxic cesspool starts at the very top and it’s easy to push the demands further down the chain until you are the last person. None of them could function on a daily basis under the demands they throw at others, much less have the skills to even do your job. Most of management are accomplished brown nosers who didn’t get their positions based on their skills, but more so on how much they could stroke an ego.
The level of “making mountains out of molehills” here is unparalleled. In my case, I think it’s a manager who is a type A insecure perfectionist coupled with their boss being extremely demanding and non-forgiving. This trickles down to everyone below to make it an unpleasant work environment where you’re always being told to focus on a new fire (that’s not really a fire).
Most managers, most good managers, hate having to manage someone so closely.
Insecure and need for control. Ask your manager if they are aligned with the core values of the company. They need to practice what they preach.
The managers want their bonus and to make you quit.
