Thread regarding F5 Networks Inc. layoffs

Please seek help if needed

There are some people not doing so well since being laid off. Seriously not doing well. Please seek help.

Feeling anxious and depressed, having trouble sleeping, not being able to enjoy activities that you are used to enjoying are all normal feelings that you may experience after a layoff.

If these feeling persist over time it may be useful to be assessed by a doctor and/or mental health professional. Layoffs can put a lot of emotional stress on relationships and it may be useful to consult with a mental health professional about this as well.

Yeah you newly unemployed slaves should get a manicure, see a PhD and take some high-quality medications for what ails you! Buy a boat! “Hey buddy, relax fella! Relax, guy!” (South Park Donal Trump voice)

@OP There are folks really struggling after the layoff, and it’s important to take care of yourself. But honestly before you sign anything, talk to a lawyer. That conversation might end up being way more useful for your future than anything else.

@OP Mental health support is definitely important, no question about that.

But let’s be real, it’s not just about people being anxious or not doing well. Many of who survived the layoffs are also not in a good place: survivor’s guilt, increased workload, and constant uncertainty are very real.

And when a pattern in the layoffs looks a little too obvious, it’s hard not to feel that the stress is systemic, not just personal.

A doctor can help you sleep, but it can’t fix the way this was handled!!!!!!!!

@am I hate to break it to you, F5 will do just fine! Customers/Users are cheering the news of BIG IP NEXT elimination. F5 will work on improve the R series, sell them more, increase revenues to report out. Perhaps hire back some talents who were RIFed.
If there is a water leak at your house, would you NOT want to stop the leak before more damages to your home? F5 did it, by not target an individual but by product/business. Utilize your energy on finding the next best calling for yourself.

@am Can you hear yourself? You think wishing others ill is a positive mental direction for you? You think it is healthy? Look, you were laid off. That’s not the end of the world. And while you absolutely think it was done with malice - it wasn’t, it was a business decision is all. It’s just business. Su-ks? Absolutely. But to let it live rent free in your head for the rest of your days - that’s your doing, not F5’s. Stop wishing ill on others because you mentally can’t move past rejection.

Strongly recommend you get some help.
