@ej As a side note I voted straight Republican in Texas and I was in Montgomery County the highest percentage of Repubs in Texas I believe. Now back in California I still vote the same way. But there are too many Moonbats to overcome in this State. But it’s slowly changing and I’ll tell you why. The freeloaders simply can’t live here any longer. It’s getting redder all the time.

@dq From B2. I would add this. Don’t sell your home if you can manage it. Rent in Houston. There is no real appreciation in home values in Houston over the years depending on jobs in the Greater Houston area. It’s not just Big Oil. It’s the medical industry as well. But IMO homes values will remain flat on what you purchase if you are there 4 to 5 years. I bought my home for 500K and Sold it for 490K four years later. Your best asset is number one your retirement and pension. But number two by far is your home in California. Keep it at all costs. I did manage to move back to California but I moved into a 55 and over community which is cheaper than regular homes in the area I live in. But we are close to the kids and grandkids which was first and foremost for my wife and I. As for the kids? Well just how far along are they? If they are in High School I absolutely would not uproot them and move them to Houston. If they are elementary or even middle school then there are some very good Districts in Katy or Sugarland and even The Woodlands they might adapt to. But that would be hard for me to do that with my kids. Luckily I was 56 when I moved and left at 60. Your age and time in the Company are a major factor. Houston is pretty cool for sight seeing. With NASA and Galveston, Austin, Hill Country and San Antonio and go through the River Walk at Christmas time. Finally you can even go to Chip and Joanna’s place from HGTV in Waco. It’s a tough decision to make. I hope this works out for you AND your family . The best to you.

@b2 Thanks for your perspective. How many regret your decision to move to Houston? There’s a lot involved in uprooting your family. It might be hard to come back to California if we sell our house. We also have a lot of family in California. Also thought about leaving the family here and flying back and forth until I retire or the kids are done with school. How has it worked out for those who have relocated from California?

Just hope it’s something worth hearing- not like the worthless townhall where they tell us they’ll tell us more later. What happened to transparency? Oh yeah- that only goes in one direction.

Let me tell you about Houston. It’s hot and muggy. Lots of storms and driving on I45 takes guts. Lots of guts. I did the first move on the Security Access Management Team. SAMS. My family and I moved to Conroe into a Trendmaker Mansion for 500k. The problem who my teammates told me was the commute.
I didn’t listen. I ended up driving from Conroe to Bellaire where I was assigned for several months. Super effing miserable. Even when we got relocated to downtown I was assigned to HOU160. 32nd Floor. Was no where nearer to customers than if I were in California. The reason the Company said we were moving in the first place. I was too old and had to do it. Those last four years were the most miserable in my life. If you have a choice. DONT DO IT. Stay in California as long as you can. Sorry to be a negative Nellie but it’s true.

Let’s hope it’s not the same Teams dumpster fire they gave us a year ago. MW didn’t give two 💩💩 when over 1500 of us couldn’t access the meeting and then, 20 min into the call, when we FINALLY got on, the audio kept going in and out. If that happens again, but with AW this time, that red faced 🤡 is gonna blow a gasket! I kinda wanna see that. 😂
