So I seem to remember during the Facebook and Google massacres, there were reports that people were just getting asked to come back, not even interview.

@at Yes, this seems like a different phenomenon. From what I read about in the article. You can Google around and you'll see a bunch of articles from a couple years ago talking about it.
@a8 Rehired at Oracle? I know some people who came back, but they went through the interview process as new hires and were hired into a different part of the company. I've never heard of someone being asked if they would come back to their old job. Of course, O is a big company, so who knows?

@a5 well it seemed to happen quite a bit last year. When I say call back or whatever I mean after sometime. A couple people in my LinkedIn got rehired after a few months at met.
I have never heard of anyone ever being called back. Though I wonder ... since this time people aren't being terminated until after several weeks, perhaps some could be called back, but I still doubt it.
