Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I thought FTW was mandatory to keep your job?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that FTW was completed months ago! I pulled the WebPhone directory, in my off time, for each of the SVP teams and it appears that if you're an AVP or above and you don't currently live in the Dallas or Atlanta area, you don't have to move with your team! Example - the overall IOT team had to relocate to Atlanta and Dallas, but their VP stayed in Missouri, which I don't believe is even one of the previously approved hubs! L4's should all be located in Dallas per the FTW policy as well!

How many times do you have to be told. It was all a scam. look at the Torretta Org. 95% of the people he laid off were full time office workers. In one of his groups, 85% of his people were not even required to move too Dallas or Atlanta. All the pets still work VO . If its not obvious I don't know what else is.

Ah the hypocrisy of IoT is being discussed once again. It’s well known and leadership doesn’t give a damn. Lots of discrepancies in that org.

“My AVP, director & 2 peers were surplussed from St. Louis without the option to move.”

They were identified as dead weight.

If you really want to see who the chosen ones are, look up the ADs (L2) who are virtual (1 day a month in the office) and how many of their direct reports are full time office workers (5 days a week in the office). Now how can that be collaboration?

Come on team! You know that RTO is just a smokescreen for the real reasons we are being required in the office 5 days!

  1. The company no longer has pension plans and anyone who still gets pension deposits and meets MR75, is a target. Let’s be real, the majority of us worked in the office 5 days a week before COVID anyway so that wasn’t an issue for us so they created one-move to a hub or you’re out.

  2. Letting people work from home is detrimental to the corporate real estate business and the economy in urban areas. A risk not factored when the government directed private businesses to work from home during COVID..

  3. Some people are creating and running businesses on the side while WFH which is not allowed on company time. What better way to police this?

  4. People were moving to more tax friendly or lower cost of living areas that may not be approved work sites/states/countries.

I’m sure there’s many more reasons other than “he said so.”

I don’t think Engineers and Planners have to work in the office.

Except Network & Field Ops. They get to work from wherever they want. They even work out of footprint -- PA, CO, AZ. They have Chiefs of Staff working at home full time.
Guarantee you those people are replaceable. It is infuriating.

Those rules only apply to the non-people. If you are L2 or below, or the wrong age, ethnicity, or political persuasion, you have to jump through all the hoops or no more feed in your bag, animal.
