I no longer drive home and log back in to just make sure the day is done and everyone is taken care of. When I am done, I am done. My teams is all shades of red and I am like, See Ya Tomorrow!

@cf we can't even get offshore to support test environment abends during their standard working hours. I can't imagine having a whole hub of 5k of them is going to end well.

This is exactly the feedback as a SWE I provided as a question in the TH which was moderated & never displayed: what will you do when we, because you are petty tyrants, stop logging-in after hours for deployments, incidents, firedrills, during our vacation, in the middle of the night, on our weekends, etc. send all our jobs overseas?

AI cannot & will not be able to replace us, not now, not in 10years. So since you need critical thinkers with independent brains, not from Bangalore, where no independent original thought ever erupted - the MC should exercise the practice of shutting the fü rather quickly because I intend to do EXACTLY THAT.

Next sev2 incident I get, in the middle of the night? I'm going to let it breach for the first time in 8 years. They can sm giant white do-g with their Chennai arbitrage nonsense & senseless executive tyranny. Go ahead & fire me, I'm vastly underpaid as a SWE anyway due to the flood of low wage foreigners tipping the scales.

These people are miserable examples of executive leadership, tonedeaf, & clueless on how to effectively balance desired outcome changes with compassion & small measures of employee independence.

If they were REALLY smart, they would design policy in such a way that is ethical, gets the desired outcome, with

First thing I do after logging in, is run poweshell command to shut off computer in 8 hrs. Doesn't matter what's going on, at exactly 8 hrs I'm off the clock.

I work exactly 8 hours since the new RTO change.
As soon as I hit 8 hours on the network, I shut down immediately.

Sometimes it takes 3 minutes or longer to shut down.

I say heck with that, I am leaving and putting that laptop in the bag, don’t care if it’s still shutting down.

They get zero more minutes out of me now. 8am to 4pm, 1 hour lunch, and many breaks.
Use all 80 hours sick day
