Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Anyone actually call ethics hotline before ?

Have a situation and have not had annual review yet, but pointed out unethical, immoral and possible illegal acts of our executive to my manager and their one up manager late in year.... sent via email and of course nothing was responded to in writing but called me back via teams and was told to never send something like that via email again..

I think I might be rewarded with inconsistantly meets or do not meets because of these actions...

Anyone have any experience reporting something like this?

Reported something to Ethics regarding sales practices. They tried to ask some information that could have revealed my identity but I refused. 10 days later they said they took care of it internally. When I asked how, crickets.

I did. I called HR, the Ethics hotline and the mental health hotline, where I was told to take deep breaths and go do something nice, like get my nails done. In short theyre in on it, have been prepped for alot of distraught people calling. They will not and cannot do anything.

@bk it’s a lie. Do not fall for it! Never report anything to anyone. This goes for any company you work! Hutterite all the same. Just leave if you must.

I turned in an issue to the Ethics Line and then was terminated for it and guess what? The claim went POOF...Don't turn anything in to the ethics line. Go to EEOC or the government if it meets that criteria. They will use the Ethic Line against you. Find a great employment attorney who has sued WF before and is not afraid.

My wrongful termination claim was so bad the mediator WF chose within an hour of an 10 hour session was yelling at THEM. He was so pi---d off at what WF had tried to pull. Thats when you know they are sc--wed when their hand picked mediator thinks they su-k.

He helped push them into an equitable settlement and made them pay the entire mediation bill since they did me so dirty. COst them way more than had they just laid me off to get rid of me.

Also, never go to HR. HR protects the Manager; NOT the team member.

Oh, boy. I am very sorry to say, but you are sc--wed. What were you thinking? If you ever find yourself in an unethical and corrupt chain of command, just run as fast as you possibly can, on your own terms, and — if you must — turn the evidence over anonymously to regulatory authorities and/or media after you are safely outside of the sphere of malign influence. Maintain anonymity at all cost. Remember the two whistleblowers who used to work at an unnamed aerospace company?

If you get fired it’s retaliation against WF. Retaliation is a no no and if found guilty is very bad. Definitely report it if they are messing with u.

Do not report anything. The illegal activity is because they ordered it 2 levels up. You will get termed. They know about the activity already. Stay quiet and get out.

Thanks for sharing this information. I was going to call ethics today. I have an issue which is a breach of confidentiality by my manager. He’s a snake! But would rather not report if retaliation would be the next step.
Don’t you love how the ethics website clearly states reporting is anonymous and the do not tolerate retaliation.

Since it's already too late, I would recommend printing out those emails to protect yourself for whatever might come up.

Do NOT report ANYTHING to the ethics line. They work for WF. They do not work for us.

There is literally no point calling the ethics line unless you personally are caught up in the documentation trail and need to try to get ahead of the problem before it blows up

@OP
"pointed out unethical, immoral and possible illegal acts of our executive to my manager and their one up"
Of your Executive.
By who's standard?
Yours?
You honestly thought by going to your manager and his/her manager VIA EMAIL, that that was going to garner any attention to you and your perception of wrongdoing?
You obviously haven't been around the block.
Sorry.

Ethicsline is there to protect WFC not you, I called them and they opened a case, waited until the time to contact EEOC was up and then literally the next day said they found no wrongdoing. This was with email documentation from the person in question as proof.
Do not report to ethicsline go straight to whatever regulator you need to, either EEOC, OCC, CFPB etc.
Make sure you have documented everything, including your escalation to management.

I concur with the others. I myself had reported unethical behavior - almost identical to what we see in the training videos. Low and behold, the issue was not fixed, I got an IM, and several months later I was shown the door.
It would seem that no one at WF wants to see, hear, or fix any issues. Just sweep them under the rug by getting rid of the trouble-maker (whistleblower).

If you have already mentioned a complaint to your manager its too late - you're already on the hit list.

I thought this was the Wells Fargo way...isn't stuff like this what got Wells in all the trouble before? Looks like we are back at it...

No, you going to probably get fired eventually for reporting it unless he did something extremely slimy AND unprofitable...
