Rules change constantly, arbitrary metrics pop up with no explanation, and you’re pressured to keep up with it all no matter how much work you already have to deal with. It’s exhausting and feels designed to make people quit. I’ve never seen such a consistently stressful environment in my career.

@2a1 My boss is like this too. She things everything revolves around her and has no desire to learn about employees unless they serve her agenda. My PTO doesn't matter to her.
You're lucky you got laid off. Mine seems very determined to get me fired for no reason and to get her sycophant to take my place.
My last boss at Cigna was HORRIBLE. Here's a great example of her behaviour. It was after 5 pm and I was officially on PTO. Was leaving on an international trip the next day and needed to pack. She continued to harass me for another 45 minutes or so, because I didn't change something in a presentation the way she wanted it changed. That's because the way she wanted it was cr-p. I explained how her approach was deficient, and she finally agreed that I was right. She proceeded to say I still had time to redo it (even after 5 pm and me on PTO), but her own lies caught up with her. She had told me she had a 5 pm deadline to get the finished product to her boss, but that was totally fabricated so I would get it to her before vacation. I just said sorry, we're out of time, aren't we? Getting laid off was one of the best things that ever happened to me. When you work for someone so demeaning and toxic, it's a gift.
@c3 I’m sorry you’ve experienced this. I too have work-trauma from working at Cigna. It’s been especially bad these last five years. I even had a panic attack in front of my manager earlier this year as I was trying to communicate the unbalance on the team.
@113 I'm not denying anyone's feelings, and I am definitely not high up in the organization. I have just had different experiences.
@112 that’s funny! Not sure what band you are at, maybe too much high to hear low level’s voice! Most people just don’t trust that the company’s survey is safe to express their opinions without retaliation! This site is the true anonymous forum so people express their opinions freely! It’s not accurate, but you can feel the sentiment by just seeing the arrow ups vs downs for each message and reply
@ww I don't know what departments you all work in but I've been around for almost 12 years and have only ever heard one or two individuals that even raised their voices slightly, even including during major outage WebEx's.
Agree. Keeps getting worse. Why are all the leaders meaner and meaner these days? Serious question.
I dont usually comment on here either, but man.. Its been really really rough lately. Getting constantly put down and borderline yelled at in meetings in front of many other co-workers for mistakes that others made, definitely does not make you feel good! And its not just me, I witness other people on my team get yelled at and put down publicly in meetings as well. Getting extremely toxic here...
@c3 you are good enough. Don’t let this cesspool make you feel like that. Start actively looking and jump ship. Don’t give them two weeks either. You will be better off for it and you’ll wonder why you waited so long.
I don’t usually reply to these threads but I agree 1000%. It’s like workplace trauma- which I didn’t even know was a thing until worked at Cigna. The scars I have from working here will never go away and it will Take years to rebuild my confidence if it ever even comes back. I’m afraid to even look for a new job because what if I’m not good enough based on how Cigna life has made me feel.
And then when you take time off for your vitality via disability, they FIRE you for not getting better fast enough. Bunch of aholes that can eat a dik.
