Exiting IBM Tips

Any advice from former or current IBMers on pitfalls when exiting IBM? I've heard horror stories about final paycheck deductions, not paying out remaining vacations days, etc. I'll be giving a 3 week notice because I'm nice however I don't expect... — read more

USA Marketing RAs today

Many on my team RA’d today including me. No specifics on package but said to be in alignment with other recent RAs.

It's the dividend, stupid

A dying company

Will they at least slow down the downfall of this company if they can't stop it?

How to sell a bad product?

I was lucky enough to get a new opportunity very quickly because it became impossible to work here. IBM makes impossible demands and doesn't realize that it's impossible to sell something no one wants. Instead of the company thinking about... — read more

Filling the gaps in knowledge

How long did it take you to supplement your knowledge and skills that were damaged by IBM’s archaic products and processes? I am aware that my skills have atrophied here and I would love to work in a company that is far ahead of IBM when it comes to... — read more

D-Day Tomorrow

Any career upsides at IBM?

Are there any career upsides to staying at IBM? Except if you are ready to retire and waiting for a RA?

I’d rather be a RAd than survive cuts

I just can’t believe C&CS could continue to work in case they decide to give people layoffs too??? I don't know how much your workload has increased, but mine is increasing continuously as more and more people are leaving. In case of cuts I would... — read more

Mass exodus

Is everyone else seeing a mass exodus of colleagues? I work in C&CS and every week I see someone leave. I hope it gets bad enough where even AK realizes it’s going downhill

IBM Cloud vs Cloud and Cognitive Software

Can anyone educate me on the difference between IBM Cloud and C&CS? I don’t understand the difference, particularly in reference to “future IBM” (post Kyndryl). Appreciate any insights. Thx.

The excitement is gone

I can deal with the many - and I mean MANY - IBM flaws, but the one thing that I can't get over is how boring and monotonous my work has become. It's always the same thing. No more innovation, no new ideas, just repeating the same things over and... — read more

Lost all respect for this company?

That's right, I don't have any respect for IBM anymore because IBM doesn't have any respect for its employees either. It is no longer the IBM I started working for, but a lost company without any vision. I thought some things would get better, but... — read more

Any Retirement packages been offered in Canada recently?

I know IBM Canada used to offer retirement packages once you hit 55...it was a ton of dough but reduced works weeks for a few months and then a few months salary to get you out. Any Canucks see this last or this year?

Major RA: People Being Informed On Monday

I'm no longer with IBM, but 80% of my former group of 600 people will be notified, on Monday that they are being laid off. Sounds like Marketing is being decimated.

Measuring success

I retired from IBM a few years ago and the best advice I can give younger people is the same advice I was given in my mid-20s. Success isn’t measured in leaps and bounds. It will be weighed and measured in tiny increments and as long as you do your... — read more

It's purely a financial decision

Performance has NOTHING to do with Layoffs (Resource Actions) at IBM. It's purely a financial decision driven by the Finance Organization. If you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, you'll get a call out of the blue from your Manager and only... — read more

Amazing place to work

This is the best job I've ever had and I don't see how it could get any better. Everything is absolutely perfect. Go Blue!

Worst company I've ever worked for

I've worked at several F500 companies, and IBM has been the worst BY FAR. I was lured here by an executive who offered me a generous salary, but I'm already ready to check out within a year. I knew my first week here I made a mistake. Some things... — read more

Does this happen often?

I started working here six months ago. Yes, this is my first job, but I still had some expectations, including not being lied to at my interview and beyond. I was told and promised certain things during the recruitment process that turned out not to... — read more

This is your wakeup call - again

I can’t believe how many people STILL think that as long as they keep busy, remain productive and receive great feedback that they are safe from any layoffs. If the company wants you gone - you’re gone. Nothing you say or do will change that. Wake up... — read more

Is there a point in even trying?
