3B translated to 20k jobs

My manager said they bill about $150k per employee for budgeting. This translates to about $3B/150k = approx 20,000 jobs. There arent 20k people in SMG. Maybe 5-8k in SMG. So there will be cuts across all groups. This looks bad.

$10B in aggregate savings by EOY 2025

So for those that survive this round, we get three more years of cost cutting, project elimination, outsourcing, and fear+paranoia. Just hope I last long enough to weather the economic storm and escape on the other side. Sounds like a rough two years... — read more

Which BU’s will be affected

Has anyone heard rumors specifically which BU’s will targeted most for these layoffs? Or is the plan to just skim some off the top of each one?

All company meeting

I have a feeling the all company will be full of fluff with no concrete information though the actual layoffs may be deep and brutal. They might downplay the layoffs and focus on ego boosting delusions of IDM2.0

Why are you still at Intel?

Seriously, if Intel is that bad, why wait until the layoffs to complain and leave? Remember is employment at will, hence Intel does not owe you a job or you are stock with Intel for life. Stop complaining and act!!!

Intel needs a systemic overhaul

If you work here, you know the place is posh. Its great to have a nice workplace but that leads to complacency, laziness, ineptitude, tons of bureaucracy, low morale and poor execution. If you work in the fab, you know how much bs you have to deal... — read more

Left in 2015…came back this past June

I took VSP during the first round in 2015…after 19 years. I didn’t really qualify for it, but had recently gotten divorced and needed to move to a different state to be near the kids, so my boss helped me get it. Fast forward 7 years, I was moving... — read more

Family & Friends

There are posts that lament hiring family/friends. Why the frown if they are talented, hardworking, and reliable. It’s a win-win for Intel and the employees.

What work will be stopped?

You can’t cut ~20,000 employees without eliminating projects, functions, and products. So what will they pull the plug on? Or do most people believe they’ll keep every project alive (no matter how unpromising) and spread the work across the... — read more

These cuts will further encourage attrition.

If I survive these cuts, in any case, I will try to get out of here as soon as possible. What can those who survive expect other than a double workload, shorter deadlines, greater pressure and assurances from the management that they should be... — read more

It may be a bit awkward situation, but...

Most of all, I would like to have a sincere conversation with my manager to express my concerns, that is, ask him if I might lose my job so I can take action. Maybe someone has already done that?

Experiencing high anxiety levels?

I don't know why, but I've never been more anxious than now that these cuts are around the corner. Also I have never been less productive. I barely manage to concentrate on my work. On the other hand, I think that getting laid off, despite... — read more
