Paid for Carry Over Vacation?

Does anyone know about getting paid for carry over vacation when you quit? I understand you’ll get a check for whatever remaining vacation is left for the current year, but just wondering about carry over from the previous year. I’m trying to figure... — read more

There are other industries out there!

Why are people so stuck on thinking that if you work in this field you are stuck with it? There are plenty of other industries where your skills will be more than useful, you just have to think outside of box for once. Widen your search and you'll... — read more

I have a dream

EM will need a massive change if there is real desire to survive. Massive changes typically happen as result of a revolution. A soft one of course. Vision of elements of such soft revolution in unsorted order: Everybody of us should... — read more

Too scared to quit

Honestly, I would walk out today if I knew I'd be walking into a better situation even if it would be for less money. But there is no way to know that for sure! It happened to me before, I changed my job for what I thought was a better opportunity... — read more

What did EMIT do to the intranet search

The new improved intranet search is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with this company. Somehow they managed to replace a c-appy product with an even worse substitute, likely after spending piles of money to develop the new search. I've... — read more

MPT VS WAGE Layoffs

Anybody have the inside scoop of how much the layoffs are going to affect the wage workers (operations/field/refinery folks) or is the MPT employees mostly under fire?

Timing and size or US Layoffs?

If it is similar to Europe (15-20%) and most operational (factory/field) workers are spared then it seems could be 30-40% at the campus? Any idea on timing? Still nothing on WARN.

EMIT reduction

Let's face it, EMIT has too many highly-paid middle-management which is weighing XOM down: Advisors, architects (of all types in different capabilities), technical leads, domain experts, specialists, SMEs, managers, managers of managers, SDM's... — read more

An own written parable! Similarity with EM?

My first own written parable (might need significant improvement, but hey please be fair, I am working on new skills) A man has a business and his business is going badly at the moment. But he has to buy new shoes soon and there is no... — read more

#WeAreExxonMobil

We were once the most valuable company in the world 8 years ago, now we don't even make top 50, we are not even the most valuable oil company in US anymore, because we 'Compete to Win'.We got kicked out of Dow and are piling up debt to pay dividends... — read more

Org Charts and CareerConnect Photos

Anyone else noticing a flurry of activity to get org charts updated and photos into CareerConnect? Not rocket science to figure out why...

It's United Way pledge time once again

I've been laughing everytime I see these pledge emails come out. EM is doing a fake, sham layoff by smearing employees but still has the balls to ask us for money. Now that's hilarious. I'll let Darren Woods donate my part.

Sooo... Is Exxon a cult?

The EM culture has an alarming number of features typical of cults. Take a look at the BITE model. Thoughts? https://freedomofmind.com/bite-model/

Refining Director Nepotism on Full display!!

During forum today, the refining director discussed how company fundamentals remain strong and will be for a long time. The director even told a story about how his 2 kids work for exxonmobil and he expects them to have a long, but challenged career... — read more

Volunteer to be Laid Off?

Evil Empire

I think the title Evil Empire certainly fits XOM given all the stories I’ve seen on this site. May not be an empire any longer but certainly Evil!!

Honest Question: 401k

Does it now make more sense to increase my retirement contributions and move them to and outside firm (i.e. Edward Jones, Meryll Lynch)?

XOM Stock 401k

I've heard that a bunch of my supervisors/managers are all in on XOM stock in their 401ks. Based on the current stock price, it looks like they lost half of their savings so I'm not inclined to follow their footsteps. However, it seems that there are... — read more

Houston Campus Bloodbath

With all the cuts in Europe where the company is already running lean, I would not be surprised if they laid off a significant amount of employees out of campus. There is so much experience (and insanely high cost employees) there, it's hard to see... — read more

Singapore shout out

Singapore employees are speaking out. Had a group meeting today and colleague from Singapore was in beast mode with the sarcastic remarks about layoffs. I couldn’t believe it. People’s jaws were dropping in the zoom. No one could believe what he was... — read more

I’m going to decline my offer

After reading everything here and talking to an alumni who was honest I’ve decided to decline the job offer I was made. Makes no sense to move to Houston for a job in this culture only to be fired shortly after arriving.

Beat the surge

I’m quitting so I can focus all my efforts on job search. If you are in Houston and want to stay get out now so you can beat the surge.

Leaving was my best decision

After 20+ years and continued ranking in the top plus mid to high salary increases yearly, I was PIP'ed for reasons that simply shocked me. Considering my track record, thought I will give it a try and after 7 weeks into it, realized it was nothing... — read more

Don’t worry the fundamentals remain strong!!

Day-A-ron said so in his “Message from DW” this morning. Rejoice! He also said “Our investment portfolio remains the strongest in industry“. We ArE sAvEd! I’m calling off the job search. WeArEeXxOnMoBiLe

US layoffs

ExxonMobil is a ‘good’ company

Unfortunately the scaling of the word ‘Good’ should be the one sold by Consulting Company to HR department. It means it is below average. For outsider you need to find the internal ExxonMobil dictionary to translate standard words. Very Good... — read more
