The only people who have not been notified yet are those on vacation/sick leave? If that's true, I have to admit I'm positively surprised. I was concerned they would really make all of us worry and stress for two full weeks while they slowly notified... — read more
RSU’s when laid off
Has any information been shared on what happens to unvested RSU’s when you’re laid off (not that they’re worth much these days).
Lawsuit for emotional distress
According to some lawyers in Houston there is most likely a case against XOM for the way they have handled the layoffs. The courts recognize emotional distress as a type of damage that can be recovered through a civil lawsuit. This means you can sue... — read more
The REORG Cometh
What can we look forward to next? Any rumors of z as reorg? Will we ever get back go a feeling that isn’t anxiety and worry? I’m about to have a heart attack if feels like.
Has this happened to anyone else?
So I was given a 1:1 with my boss, he gave me the whole spiel. He also told me that I'll have to work for the next 2 months and I may be required to train another employee. Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like I might be expected to train... — read more
Low level managers and supervisors
I see a lot of hate being directed towards managers and supervisors on here. I suppose as the ones who deliver the bad news that is to be expected. I find some of the statements a bit illogical though. Time of high emotion I know. My low level... — read more
Is it over?
Is it over or are layoff announcements continuing Thursday and Friday? I have yet to be communicated to. God bless to anyone who has already been laid off. May you find greater happiness in new opportunities!
Canada severance comparison
Canada is being secretive about the severance package because I think they’re trying to screw over those already getting the axe. Those PIP’d earlier in the year received 1 month/year of service to a max of 24 months. I received less than that, which... — read more

March Layoffs = Performance Assessments
In a hope to quell some fake news, I think the March layoff rumor is being conflated with the news that we will be PIPing 5-10% annually for the foreseeable future. This has been confirmed from the lips of an executive. I don’t think there will be... — read more
Houston Layoffs waiting for Dismantling of Fraud CSR

Don’t be selfish — show some compassion to your manager
As your manager informs you that you are being laid off, remember that he or she learned today that the incentive program has been cancelled for 2020 (except for Darren and his direct reports, of course). The horror!! This is traumatic news for... — read more
XOM Executives gave themselves $millions on Nov 24th 2020
Just saw that XOM Executives gave themselves millions of dollars in bonuses last week, just days before issuing the list of people to terminate their employment. It takes a special arrogance to give yourself millions while terminating thousands of... — read more
No March Layoffs
Someone in UOG with knowledge of the situation has repeatedly communicated this round is a one and done deal. No further layoffs will happen, at the very least for Upstream. Unless of course, we are being blindsided again :)
So sad to read
I retired from Exxon over 20 years ago. We had many voluntary programs over the years and most of the employees benefited from the career shift or early retirement. It pains me to read the bitterness and frustration that so many employees are... — read more
Former XOM Geo looking in

Just got my notification
Before anyone asks - 7 years with the company; mostly "very good" area, not in GP. A bit surprised because I thought I'd be fine at least until ranking.
Anyone from UOG?
Still waiting on my meeting invite...no one on my team has heard either.
Seriously???
Why are people already talking about another round in March? Can we at least finish this one before we get worked up into a frenzy over the next one? And I'm not sure where this supposed confirmation came from, we haven't heard anything about it -... — read more
Why do XOM executives get bonuses when they are doing such bad jobs !
They have damaged XOM reputations by making wrong moves and late moves. They suspend employees bonuses and lay off so many employees and still keep giving them bonuses that they don't deserve. Don't they have any pride left ?
Why isn't there more official info on this?
There is so much guessing and unnecessary stressing. I actually thought the company handled this well so far, just to completely drop the ball in the end. Keep us informed on what's going on! How hard can that be?

You know what's sad?
I've been stressing over the coming layoffs for more than a month now, but at least I had the time after Dec 15 to look forward to. That made the past weeks bearable. But now that it has started I realize how wrong I was. Yes, my team was already hit... — read more

Breakdown of US Layoffs by Function/Location
Does anyone have a breakdown of the 1900 layoffs by function or by location (as was shown for those in Europe)? All I’ve heard is possibly 15 in EMRE LT and 10 in EMRE FPO. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard back from any of my former colleagues. — read more

When is GP going to hear anything? Is it really about 40%? Pretty nervous over here.
Companies tend to succeed or fail from the top down.
No matter how good the people under are, they are restricted by the people above them. Good workers are hampered by poor management. Good management is handcuffed by poor executives. Good ideas are left to die by poor leadership. When the focus... — read more
