Unemployment

Anyone gotten their unemployment benefits from rrb yet, and figured out just who is responsible for the covid19 600 extra that we are supposed to be getting? I know that this has been asked before but with all the recent stupid post about butt... — read more

Traffic

Hearing that the southern region is pretty much dead, everything is running out west and up north so people in those regions what’s it looking like there? Also just a guess here but going to go out on a limb here and say it’s going to possibly be... — read more

Straight UP Truth

Well it’s about time for the next straight up article to hit the website what will be topic for the article this time???

Right Track

Projections show Union Pacific is on track to set an all-time operating ratio record and substantial profit for calendar year 2020. This coming on the heels of a pandemic strapped economy that has shuttered many of its shippers and a near shutdown of... — read more

Is North Platte still #1 in the system?

Think about it we are #1 with best numbers, quality, production. Thats why we will have no layoffs in shop. This shop is history and will be classified as biggest in world. Without north platte UP would be worse.

UP

the phrase “being railroaded” wasn’t just made up for no reason. The railroads will always win. The only way employees can take a stand is to bypass the union and strike on their own. cut out rail on a busy main line. Perhaps hold the track and... — read more

98k Carloading?

It's over now for sure people. It was nice working with some of ya.

138

Kudos to whom ever bought UP stock at 138$ nice chunk of change your earning.

The Tyco sequel?

Something big happening at top leadership. Corruption, scandal and inter executive flings.

Stocks

Since UP stocks are skyrocketing the company will recall all furloughed workers and put locomotives to work.

PSR is here to stay in some form

Unfortunately PSR is alive and well on CN, CSX, NS, etc. CSX is still laying off and just released 50 at their headquarters in the past 2 weeks. NS closed Linwood Yard which was a major hump yard and laid off almost all employees there. NS has been... — read more

Vacation for 2021

Does anyone know when the cutoff date is for qualified vacation for 2021. Does taking voluntary time off affect the cut off date. Any more layoffs before or qualified time is up?

Mistake.

I wish someone from higher ups would come on here and just admit that PSR was a bad decision. UP made billions over so many years, had outstanding customer service, and many employees working, and morale was outstanding. Now I’m asked who you working... — read more

Troubled?

A source from KETV Omaha states that Union Pacific is considering filing bankruptcy within the next month due to loss of revenue and outstanding debt.

Are we the new hertz?

Our debt on 3/31/20 is 26.3 billion. For reference on 3/31/17 our debt was 14.3. Can we keep financing these stock buybacks or is out long term debt and reduced car loads going to bankrupt the up.

Why did UP hire Vena?

The most obvious answer is Lance was in way over his head. That’s correct. Why else though? Because he was already retired and had nothing to lose. No self respecting high level executive is going to leave another company and come to this toxic... — read more

State of business NLR and other locations

So driving by the NLR yard and there was maybe a few trains yarded nothing leaving, waiting on a light, yarding, being humped, or just passing thru. The last time I saw it this bad was in 2008 when everything tanked, I remember even in the summers... — read more

West Colton a cut above the rest

We have the best and the brightest. Managers and agreement actually get along, the Managers talk more trash on the company than the agreement!!!! But we all get along, work together, we realize we each have a job to do and its nothing personal. Maybe... — read more

TE&Y

Just remember your paid by the hour not by the car count.

Cant we all just get along

Agreement, Management, Executives, are you all too blind to see that you're all on the same sinking ship, rearrange the chairs all you want, its still going down. Whether it stems from PSR or Covid 19 or a combination of both, sooner or later your... — read more

You heard it here first

I work for a janitorial service and we have a contract with UP corporate office in Omaha, if im not mistaken it is referred to as the " glass palace". Well the other day i was in one of the top tier executives office and I stumbled across a fax that... — read more

Saving management

In Ft. Worth we moved two managers to engineering to save their jobs! I guess no layoffs for managers after cutting 50 craft and closing 3rd shift at the diesel shop!

Smart/UTU 1 man Crews

Will our union leadership try to get Conductors/RCL operators those in cab jobs if they go to 1 man crews? Like RCL where we were able to do our job without a Engineer and run the train. That's what they should be fighting for again if it's going to... — read more

Fighting.

At this point with all the infighting between crafts and shops I hope everything gets contracted out. That way everyone suffers

Pandemic is just an excuse

So apparently the only reason we are having more layoffs is due to the pandemic. Hmmmm, makes me wonder if UP knew about this pandemic years before anybody else since we've been having layoffs non stop for that long. Or they are just using the... — read more
