At my club, it is down to just me in the cash office. One associate quit 2 weeks before the change. They were in the process of interviewing others but then decided not to replace the position. I have called other clubs but they still have 2 associates. I asked our club manager what will happen to accounting going forward and was told not to worry about it. I asked an assistant manager and was told we'll eventually follow the same process as walmart and eliminate the position but didn't go into too much detail about when that will happen. IDK if we'll be going to the front end or become MSS but we have become expendable so I expect our position to be eliminated. Again, I have no official information, this is just my prediction. I come from a west coast club BTW.

My club still hasn't said anything to me about the accounting department going away. So, I thank all of you for being honest and letting us know what is truly happening. I am assuming when they make us be a cashier we will loose money...they will still need us to do the accounting duties and pay us less.

I amazes me how they expect us to train people knowing they will replace us.

And also I there are days where I spend a hour+ trying to figure out what was done, watching video, who was involved and most of the time there is a COS involved, with an over ride or doing something wrong that I have to fix. I don't think everyone realizes what mistakes we fix on a regular basis. And then let's not even mention the CFTs. Beside putting the $$ in the wrong drawers, they don't even assign the CFTs to the right accounts. I fix multiple CFTs weekly. I just don't think this is going to go as well as Sam's Club expects.

I think the worst thing a company can do is ask someone whose position is being eliminated to train someone else to do their job. What a slap in the face. I've been with the CR since its inception and once that switch happens, I am done. I won't be filling in or "help out". When the FT left, we had to figure it out without and we survived. So will they. I think they'll wait too long to train and then what? I'm fine with cashiering and being "mid-shift". They aren't going to put me elsewhere then expect me to do their work. Good luck....

Most of the time I am fixing COS mistake because they are putting the wrong money in the wrong drawers the wrong CF t's and the wrong drawers the wrong tills in the wrong drawers. They process the CFT is wrong, they don't pay attention to half of the things that they do already and now they're adding more responsibilities onto them. they don't know half of the stuff nor do they care about half of the stuff we do up in accounting. They want me to teach them my job... It's just not fair.

You think I am going to cashier the MSS come to accounting for help they r clueless just carry keys which most of them just override and cash out trans all day long and want us to fix it but hey carry on your plan is going to bite u in the a$$ big time.. Our "accounting department" basically went away when the automatic machine was installed. They spend more time doing non-accounting things ever since we got that machine.

Yes as we are a one person dept., supervisor or manager will cover days off. So what's stopping company from pulling us completely when they learn it. It will happen soon and no severance since we are now frontend based. Very sneaky Sams.

People who were entrusted to handle tens of thousands of dollars a day in cash, 10’s of millions a year, control expenses, do forensic accounting to find shortages, deal with members financial questions, pay expenses are now....cashiers.

Associates are the best assets. Listen to your associates...then treat them like their the enemy.

accounting is coming to the MSSs and the accounting people are going to the front end as cashier desk or runners

That is incorrect..you will not be scheduled in accounting. You will be scheduled as a cashier. The MSSes will be scheduled to do the deposit. We will be training them in the weeks to come. The only exception is an office where someone is hurt and in a temp job assignment—I’m not sure what they will do with them.

I was told we are under cashier but we would never cash or touch a drawer but still work in the office doing the accounting work . That’s how they are getting around a severance. Not sure of the hours . So when we are done we will help put the groceries in the cart or help self check out .

Accounting is done..will become a daily responsibility of the COSs (i.e. a disaster)
