We used to get personalized cards. I appreciated it very much. Once I received a handwritten birthday card from my manager wishing me a happy birthday, which i still have. Its the only thing i have left along with those cubes and pins.
Some people may think thats odd, but some people you meet in life make such an impact, you dont ever forget them.
But going back to the personalizion subject, something shifted along the way and nothing was ever the same.
It's almost as if someone has told management not to do things anymore. Or even speak to employees. Living the experience was odd. The way teamworks and news from the top pushed a positive spin on things and other teams were posting pictures and having celebrations, we never had any of that. It was always quiet in the office. Everyone to thereselves. A total contrast from was being presented. Felt like i was living in the Twilight Zone honestly. Something changed fundamentally not just here but the way people function and behave after the 'covid reset'. Now what i experienced in the end was a it is a strictly business scene and no we can't be personal of friendly with employees, we have to protect ourselves, because what if someone sees something and asks what are you doing?? That kind of mentality, which before wasn't there.
Management still are people just like the rest of us. Should make their own way and interactions. Heck with what others think... its their team. Think about it, no one would ever be any the wiser. You could always tell someone what to do, but in the end, how are they gonna know?
Orders are given from some department for others to follow.
True leaders lead their own way. If we can ever get back to that, team morale would improve
