I recently heard from a friend at AMD that layoffs are coming at amd , although there’s no official announcement yet.
Does anyone know if this is just speculation, or are silent layoffs already taking place?

A big layoff is a bad sign to the market and the stock would drop. Software is the other way around as it can be justified as "claude writes all our code". Semiconductors are booming because hardware is selling, a layoff would signal the pop.
Yes, I just heard from my friend that he was notified last Friday. Why do they continuous silent layoff? Just to avoid warn act?
@gr And you think senior leadership isn't looking at the projects least likely to generate ROI and cut those involved?
Nah, most orgs are already stretched thin with more projects and accelerated timelines than current staffing levels can support.
They happen all the time. All the room temp IQ directors pushing for AI usage is your first ref flag too.
