Investor Day 2026 - Hold or Short?

Obviously, I am not asking for binding financial advice, just curious, do you guys think there will be any stock market movement on this big Investor Day and if so, do we think it'll be up or down? Earnings calls are already regularly terrible and I'm not sure what an "investor day" would do differently since people already see through the smoke and mirrors of those.

Basically they have no answers to the street. When you drive the stock from 170 to 42 per share what does one say? At that point they see a circus run by clowns. They hope tariffs go away or sales magically pick up. Well when you cut distribution sales go down and other brands have a chance to become cool. Their only hope is that fashion is cyclical and Nike becomes cool again. The new products have been duds.

the only way up is an organized short squeeze from wallstreetbets like gamestop

otherwise intitional investors have been heavily shorting the stock (so should you)

EH is now officially Mr Accountability II

The actual answer will depend on whether or not they have a viable plan to increase return on invested capital. This means not only higher and sustained profits but with less cash tied up in the business, possibly getting rid of countries subsidiaries and the like.

Nike has squandered all goodwill with the investment community. They are in the doldrums. Also possibly bringing in new board members or firing more top management like the CFO.

Unless they are bringing something really new not marketing hype don’t expect a pop.

I don’t know if it is heading lower Nike is priced for oblivion now

I've been buying put options to protect the ESPP shares I've accumulated. While the share price have been going down in the last year, the put options have all been in the money preserving some of the Nike portfolio value. You can also sell some buy options covered by your long stock positions to generate income in the meantime.

My thought process is, they are timing this to coincide for when they expect to see a turnaround in the "Win Now". The fact they are doing these again at this time seems to indicate that either it's a last ditch desperate ploy, or they truly believe that the stock will be growing again and will use this to hype it up even more. In any case, if you are still holding stock that's below water, it's a no brainer to just keep holding it until after investor meeting, but I dunno if I'd be purchasing any MORE stock.

Better off going to Stocktwits than here. Here they’ll just say it’s going to zero.
