Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

IT Question - how much are you tracking us?

IT Question - how much are you tracking us?

Keystrokes? Mouse movement? Idle time? Time spent in apps? Sites visited? Full browser history? Searches? Downloads? Copy / paste? Screenshots? Files opened? Files moved? USB activity? Printing? Typing speed? Login / logout times? Badge swipes? VPN time? Location? Device name? IP address? WiFi network? Personal phone if we use work apps?

Teams activity? Status changes? Away time? Response time? Messages sent? Calls joined? Camera on / off? Meetings attended? Time muted? Engagement score? Read receipts? Calendar activity?

Email? Drafts? Deleted emails? Attachments opened? Links clicked? Who we email most? Response times? Keywords? Forwarding? Personal email access from work laptop?

Also - is this stuff actually reviewed by a person, or does it just sit somewhere until there’s an investigation?

Everything asked is tracked to my knowledge (I have seen most of the dashboards and excerpts of reports) to include keystrokes IN THE CONEXT of interacting with an application. If you had word open and just typed BANANA a million times one app would simply track that as total time spent interacting with Word. The desktop image captures would tell the story of what kind of interaction was occurring.

But there are many nuances and flaws in the activity monitoring space that is being worked out so afaik it’s no longer being used to have conversations with low scoring employees. Not yet anyways until they can tweak the reporting enough.

everything you say or do in teams is transcribed and stored offsite to be used against you if you ever sue them in court.

it can also be used if manager has a bug up his a$$ and wants a reason to fire you

less is more - dont volunteer info, dont joke or respond to chit chat. Nothing good can come from this - big brother is very real and chuckles gets hard finding new and creative ways to terminate USA staff so he can hire your indian replacement at 1/10th the cost.

His stonk option based pay depends on it.

Look to see if your machine has DAP or DSP on it (pretty sure it’s DAP). That is a software that was placed to track keystrokes and mouse clicks. It does not track scroll wheel on mouse. It’s a real thing. It was installed as a ‘routine’ update to many machines.

So if I made an excel sheet and word document on my work computer about my female coworker, of all the stuff she likes, music, foods, interactions, etc.

I'm wondering if someone has said something to her about it or have been rooting around my files. Who knows.
She acts differently towards me. But nobody has said anything to me if I was doing something wrong.

There are log files created on all activity. There are currently multiple projects focused on using this data to detect and prevent cyberthreats. While the data isn’t intended to be we-ponized against employees it can be if you have the right people at the right level pushing for it.

I see this as a huge risk that noone is talkin about.

Former Operations Analyst for over 20+ years, was laid off last year. Haven't really answered any of these questions being in severance period but I'm out now. So, I can provide some insight as to how things worked when I was last there.

No one is actively reviewing logs in real time unless requested by leadership.

Keystrokes? - the short answer is no, unless leadership has requested it. At that point we would have to install software that normally isn't part of the base image.

Mouse movement - No, teams active in short term by leadership if they are tracking that.

Idle time? Time spent in apps? - software is install on all systems that we can login to a dashboard and see in real time what you currently have open and the usage (if online) and can see history (online or offline). We can't see the data you are putting in but can see how long it is running and how much processing it is using.

USB activity? - Network scans for unauthorized USB devices actively, the groups I supported we block USB port use with software.

Printing? - If you are printing to a print server, like with secure print then yes. if printing directly to a local printer via IP connect or old school direct connect via cable then no.

Typing speed? - No

Full browser history? Searches? Downloads? - Yes, everything is proxied so everything you do on a wellsfargo pc is logged. IF someone looks at it or not would depend on leadership request.

Login / logout times? Yes

Badge swipes? Yes

VPN time? Location? Yes

Device name? - We can search by your user id and see all devices you have login into that are wells fargo owned

IP address? Yes

WiFi network? - we can see when VPN connection but not your personal Wifi unless I was to look at the system configuration directly while you were connected. Meaning remoting in which we could do and pulling network status.

Personal phone if we use work apps? No

Teams activity? Status changes? Away time? Response time? Messages sent? Calls joined? Camera on / off? Meetings attended? Time muted? Engagement score? Read receipts? Calendar activity?Email? Drafts? Deleted emails? Attachments opened? Links clicked? Who we email most? Response times? Keywords? Forwarding? Personal email access from work laptop? - All that can be figured out Yes, but im not aware of anyone doing that actively.

In short everything you do on a work owned piece of equipment is monitored and can be looked at and reviewed at any time. You have no privacy!

All this may have changed by now so take it for what it is worth.

I started in the industry in 1997 & they were tracking browser history, searches, time on internet, downloads, etc then! Nothing new. Now it’s down to every little surveillance & productivity metric.

I was displaced last year. Worked in one of the business groups Insider Threat teams (within Conduct). The enterprise went over a cliff on all this stuff, so I’d say most of it is probably true.

SkanAI has been implemented in certain groups. That pretty much tracks and monitors everything you do in certain systems

There are 2 questions everyone should ask: What are they tracking? and What are they going to do to you with it?

Get ready.

The way the activity tracking was worded to me was, "interacting with business applications."

However, I'm in California, so SB 947 aka the "No Robot Bosses" act is about to seriously throw a wrench in the plans for using this to terminate someone. Probably leads to more downsizing in California.

Honestly, no clue because they are sooooo transparent! It is so wrong that we have no access to see tracking. Exempt level but they want to treat us like we punch a time clock and track our potty breaks like we are starting out in our careers. It’s sickening that I proved myself to get here and continue to every day in learning new skills and solving dumpster fire issues because we don’t have good tools to do our jobs yet get treated like this. I went from scared of a layoff to praying for one. Because I can’t handle the job hunt to make a move while under constant pressure like this. I pack a lunch bag of snacks and try not to drink a lot of water so I don’t lose productivity tracking by taking a break or go to the bathroom. I won’t waist anytime taking a lunch break because I can’t wait to get out the door everyday. Craziness!

Kinda scary how much on that list is monitored, or at least accessible to look up.
