Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Great Company - Actively helping you get out the door

This is a great place to work and has such a bright future ahead with Transformation well underway. It is so great, that we have had over 400+ employees quit on their own, so far. It is expected that at least 50% + of the Calgary campus will quit or leave in the near future. End result = lower cost of moving.

Not only does the company recognize it, but they embrace it! There is an ICN (former NAP) event coming soon, titled "Head Shots". For only $7.50, they will get a photographer to provide you with a professional Head Shot, perfect for an updated LinkedIn Profile so that you can look amazing as you browse for your future new Job (somewhere else...).

We are so effective in creating a toxic workplace that most people want to leave now if they haven't already... To sweeten the deal, they will help you "look" your best for that new job. The final cherry on top, they are so generous and now offering EARLY relocation options to Edmonton. So thoughtful and considerate.... Wonderful. Bravo.

How many more can go before we have a safety incident or it impacts the exec bonuses is rhetorical question question that JW will be asking himself. He won’t be getting hurt but the poor person in the field who is getting pi$$ poor engineering support from India or their mind is somewhere else because they haven’t been paid as our HR team f’d up again

@10r once ol' Ricky there departed and Uncle Rex left Exxon, the whole place started to plummet. Management became predatory.

The writing was on the wall pre-Covid when totally incompetent individuals were promoted to supervisors and managers so that they could do "less damage". In many cases, these individuals had one or two staff reporting to them. Add to that the unbearable controls beauracracy which assumed a cripling life of its own. What is happening now is simply the result of a company refusing to modernize and adapt.

Looks like they are tidying up and decluttering, like everyone does before they sell the house.

The last competent senior executive who made Imperial decisions is the current CEO elsewhere

This will be a case study of poor and incompetent senior leadership decision making for years to come. I don’t even work there and have no skin in the game with this company. But watching from the sidelines is fascinating and horrifying. Nicely done leadership team!

Wow, 400 departures from an organization with historically low attrition is quite the accomplishment. Pretty soon all that will be left is the Executives, the admin staff, and a few folks left close to retirement. The huge missing middle of 'doers' are the ones departing. Who is going to do the work?

Losing 400 people that quickly is really something. Sad to see a previously reputable company going downhill so fast.
