Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How are non-working notice period decided?

Got a position at another bank and about to give my 60 days notice. While I expect to work during my entire 60 day notice period, I was curious how non-working notice periods are decided and if there's a chance I will not have to work some/all of my notice period.

@yj did you have unvested RSRs? Did you try to get rehired? Then it doesn’t matter.

Honestly some people should just ask to have their titles removed to forego this. Trust me if you leave the banking world people don’t really think you are a Vice President or executive director if you are an individual contributor.

@b4 wrong. If you have a corporate title you need to give 30, 60 or 90 days. I am an Executive Director and its in your work day profile that what your notice period is if leaving voluntary, for me its 60 days.

Idk why they would require such long notices, other than wanting time to train your replacement. Yet when they lay you off your only real notice is an impromptu meeting and you get maybe 30 minutes to get the heck out.

They expanded the scope of these BS notification periods to roles that it should never apply to. When I left Wells last year the company I was going to expected that at any level below like the highest levels of senior management, two weeks is standard. They were not going to wait 60 days to fill the role no matter how much they liked me. So I told wells to eff off and gave two weeks . No consequences… think a senior manager in my org ended up signing off on it when I wouldn’t back down on giving only two weeks.

We knew for around two years. They'd ask here and there in passing who would want to go.
Then we didn't hear anything for about a span of a year and half.

All of a sudden the holidays come around and they drop the news the buiding was closing. What a way to put a damper on the holidays if you really want to know). Probably should have waited until the new years
had passed some. That's already a delicate time for families anyway.

Gave a time frame, and in stages had more discussions then came the interviewing for jobs. If you weren going had to train replacements. About 4 months after that they throw a dinner and the following week that was it bring in equipment and thank you everyone for all you do. Feel free to leave whenever you like. People were asking questions too. The organizer said that they had nothing to do with severance packages. However, that wasn't truthful, because at the top of mine, it was initiated by this person. Not my manager (there name was nowhere near it).

@a4 wrong. Non working 60 days are for people who are getting laid off, AND for people at a certain level who leaving voluntarily. (Others have a 30 or 90 day resignation notice.)

They recently implemented a new policy based on Corporate Title. Certain titles are supposed to give longer notices. Funny thing is that the only real enforcement is clawback of stocks. But if you don’t get those rsr’s, there is nothing they can clawback. I for example am an “Executive Director” so should need to give 60 days notice. However, my bonus is less than 50k, so i do not get rsr…

There’s a lot of confusion in here. At a certain level, WF requires more than the standard 2 week notice. I would have to give 30 days notice if I wanted to stay in good standing and be eligible for rehire. Directors it’s 60 days. I have no idea whether they make you work that whole time or tell you to just leave though.

I have a title and was told that I have to give a 30 day notice. When I find a new job I pray they tell me to leave same day and pay me so I can have a vacay! 😂

If you tell them you are working in the same function for a competitor they will usually send you home, and you get a 60 day vacation while being paid so decide what to tell them carefully

Sounds like there's some confusion. A 60 day non- working notice is what the bank gives you when they lay you off. That means for 60 days, you are not working, but you are still being paid. You are technically still an employee of the bank. After the 60 days is up, you're no longer an employee and can start collecting severance and or unemployment. If you are leaving, the bank wants a 2 week notice from you. Some LOBs will keep you while others may just let you go.

They told me i could take some time to say my goodbyes. I told them they could kiss my a-s, then hung up the phone and walked away. They never even said if I should be working or not.

This was a few days ago. Wells Fargo su-ks. I hope I can find work.

Ask your boss. If it’s a competitor then you lose your RSRs. If you never want to work for Wells again then give two weeks

Why 60 days?
2 weeks is the standard

Non working 60 days are for people who are getting laid off, not leaving voluntarily.

In 99.9999 percent of cases you will work the full notice period.
