Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

I walked away last October

I thought I'd feel better right away but I was so wrong. It took months. Months of not being there to undo what that toxic place did to me. They take everything. Your energy, your optimism, your sense of self. Getting it back takes time. I'm now so happy to be away, I can't even describe it. If you can, leave. You'll feel like a new person.

But it is also ok to complain about how corporations treat employees especially in a vertical company like TIAA with so much wasted money given to their middle management at the expense of the front line. AI will hopefully take care of a lot of these know-nothing "thought leaders" who spend most of their time posting lame LinkedIN posts and congratulating themselves during their useless management huddles.

@a3 You’re right. I’m not cut out for corporate America and proud of it. I agree with the original poster. And I agree because I’m going through the exact same thing right now. But I’m in a much better place and it isn’t TIAA or Corporate America. Thriving, happy…..most people will never admit how bad corporate is for your health and well being. Looking in from the outside now, I honestly don’t know how I stayed as long as I did. I was afraid to say it for years and I’m not anymore.

@OP you really let your employer strip you of your sense of self?

My goodness, the world must eat you alive all the time.

......or another way of phrasing it - you are better than anything corporate america has the ability to offer you

"Your mountain is waiting, So...... get on your way"

@OP thank you for doing what I hope more people do. No one is forcing you to work at TIAA. If you are miserable and it's impacting your life like it apparently was yours, make a change. And many of you will come to find out that you are too soft for Corporate America overall.
