What Happens If You Don’t Return Equipment?

My last day at BNY was a few weeks ago. What would happen if I don’t return a computer monitor that I’ve used for wfh?

For context- they reached out shortly before my last day requesting my address to send a box to return the monitor. I gave my address and had told them they’ll also need to send someone to pick it up. I never heard back and the box recently arrived. I have no intention of physically carrying the box to a local shipping location.

Always return your equipment...broken and damaged, surreptitiously.

I kept mine, not sure if I had any money deducted from my check. I do not believe I did at all. My PX rep told me to keep it, but then my (former) manager called my personal phone (after forcing me out on a fake PIP I never saw or signed) and demanded that I send it back on my own dime. I called the PX rep I'd been speaking to and left a voicemail telling him what happened, and he called back and said do not worry about returning the monitor within the hour.

How long have you had the monitor? The useful life is 5 years. If they deduct it from your last check make sure its depreciated value is correct.

Nothing will happen. When I was let go I kept very expensive stuff Easy 10times 20 times $$ of your monitor. Was a collateral. BNY su-ked it. They pay the bonus they cut, I will think about returning it.

Just return it and move on with your life. You’re going to spend way more energy annoyed having that in your personal space rather than just sending it back with the box/label they already provided. It will make you think of them, but they will not be thinking of you!

If you left voluntarily or if you had been laid off - either way - there is a check pending for you and the hardware gets deducted in that check.

Happened to me. It was winter and I was bitter also, so I said FedEx can pick it up. They scheduled and then did not turn up. And they deducted the "cost" from my SUB - trust me that piece of junk was not worth it - and now I had to "sell it back" to them.

If all your funds have been settled - then you may have the upper hand to play games and may eventually "keep" the junk.

Opportunity happens.
Call the People’s Socialist Workers Misanthrope team at BNY and tell them:

You have an ongoing invoice for storage and security fees at $199 a day and accruing.

You need someone to make arrangements to come pick it up and there will be a greeters fee of $500

You cannot travel to any location for health and security purposes. But if BNY must have it this way, its a chartered limousine and lunch plus $12000 for your expenses and insurance.

After 45 days your fees will include late fees, penalties and RTO charges at an additional $200 a day.
