Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Sc--w it I am so done let’s see what happens

Heads up: My manager said upper management is actively pushing to fire people to save costs and told us to “get ready for the worst.” I’ve been here 5 years, and while last year I didn’t meet some performance metrics, I have documentation showing the assessment isn’t fully accurate. My manager even admitted the pressure is coming from above.

Is anyone else seeing the same thing? Thought we should share experiences and be prepared.

I am over this however I am not going to give them what they want. Me leaving voluntarily so the managers don’t have to do the hard thing and lay me off (with a nice severance). So my manager can be in my face (or teams) all day long every day —I will smile. The more nasty he/she gets the nicer i will be. I have two goals. Not making his / her job easy and two getting severance. After this insanity i need a real paid vacation. Not working PTO

Get out if you are miserable. I worked their for 20 years, made nearly $200k at the point I left, and that's been a year ago. I came back to this board today as a result of a news article I saw about WF and layoffs. And honestly, when I was there, this board served as a bit of therapy for me for the misery. I spent nearly all of my adult life working for WF and couldn't really picture not working there. I had all the concerns you all have about leaving --- my identity, my livelihood, flexibility day to day with an active family, PTO, comfort of knowing I had severance if I was laid off, $14k of health & wellness dollars in my HRA account (would've covered an entire year+ of out of pocket max for my family if the worst of the worst happened).....it goes on. And I left voluntarily without a new job lined up. I enjoy my life better now. You do you.....and I'm just sharing that if you're miserable, you are making a choice to stay miserable.

My teams has been told this several times by my manager. It doesn’t matter how well you are performing. You can be doing everything you are supposed to and going beyond. But if you are doing less than your coworkers, that will be used against you.

What I don’t know is if this is being told to managers knowing it will get out hoping more people leave on their own.

@aq

I'm stunned that you were able to post (nonsense but a post nonetheless) with that boot halfway down your esophagus.

Similar thing happened to me. Change of management last year and although previous manager rated me at meets for mid year, new management rated me at IM year end. I also have documentation. At the end of the day, they don’t care. Another leader informed me HR communicated not all employees can be rated at Meets and someone must be a IM. Another method to the madness…

@op, I get it. You were given a PIP but don't want to acknowledge it. How dare they? You must be really mad. You are thinking.... how can I make this better. I know, you can get on this board. But you won't talk about your PIP. You will make this story up. My manager said upper management is actively pushing to fire people. Now why would your manager tell you this? I will tell you something. Quit lying. I know you are angry. But don't obfuscate it in lies.

At this point I really don’t care laid off or terminated either way. I’d love to be managed out for 6 to 8 months ..

Yep. They are “managing out performance “. But there are some groups where they were told even if you don’t have low performing people you have to find something. Every manager has been told to document no matter how minor. The lower 15% is going to be managed out with no severance. Microsoft used to do this until they realized that high performers actively would transfer to low performing teams so they could be safe. The best talent got watered down.

Not sure why some are acting as if this isn't happening. It is.

The new push is termination with no severance to save costs. Very sad.
