Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Marketing Layoffs

Just heard about the reductions over in Marketing. They sent out a new org chart, which I got to see just now. They are getting rid of a lot of senior manager and up, and are expanding offshore support. Anywhere I’ve ever worked that started relying heavily on offshore, has paid the price eventually. If you work at TIAA and are getting a high salary, be very wary. Any of us could be next. Luckily, I’m underpaid for my role so they’ll keep my indentured servitude around for a little longer I bet.

Saw it coming from a mile away. Just wonder why they didn’t trim even more fat. There’s a lot still left over.

I remember when American Express/Ameriprise outsourced most of their call center operations in the early 2000s to India. OMG ! What a cluster. Clients couldn't understand the Indians on the phone because of their heavy accents, there were tons of errors, and client dissatisfaction was as high as the Taj Mahal. American Express got hammered over this and cost massive reputational damage. It would be better to outsource to the Philippines where they speak clear English, are detailed oriented, and show a lot of empathy. I have no problems with TIAA cleaning the house out and getting rid of the dead wood w/managers who do squat, but the real house cleaning should be done by firing Brown-Duckett, the clowns on the Executive Committee, and the Goons on the Board of Misdirection.

Add this to the centralization of communication consultants and there will be significant turnover in this area
