Job Posting Slop

WTF is up with your job reqs? Applied for a job (perfect quals on paper), went through Recruiter screening then to hiring manager (a B3) interview. Job description they provided was nothing like the posting nor what the Recruiter described.

The job descriptions are boiler plate and outdated. There have been effort in HR to correct but it doesn't sound like its working very well.

OP - consider this experience as karma saving you from making a mistake.

Been happening forever. I once applied for a job internally based on the description. Not only was the description of the roles completely wrong - and not even in the same ballpark - it was listed as based in NYC and it turned out the role was actually located in Charlotte.

If you're not a buddy or a kiss up, forget it.

@a7 because you get “rebates” for every H1B and contractor you hire.

Guess how I know

@OP Similar to what is going on with our group. Several candidates interviewed and offers provided before EOY. Not so fast, everything is on hold to see what the new year will bring. Meanwhile, staff shortages continue and HR is getting guidance from the powers to be. Meaning B1 and B2 deciding what is important for 2026. Not the same circumstances, but you may not want to have your eggs in BOA's basket if there is any change in the role applied.

Why American hiring managers (B3's) not hiring American candidates?

It’s just a fake job to reject you so they can hire a cheap H1B and say “we counldn’t find qualifying American candidate.”.
