Look up Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income. Not only is the labor cheaper by the hour, but they are also taxed less. They should raise taxes on offshore labor, not reduce it. It's no wonder these offshore captive centers are so pervasive.

Former BNY employee here: they've increased the Indian employees tenfold since 2021. Each year the holiday parties kept getting increasingly more and more awkward as the large swathes of Indian H-1B workers would refuse to eat any of the food at the parties or they would stare in silence at CEO's witty jokes about Christmas. By the time I was gone a few months ago, my office felt like it was a foreign country.
