Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

US Bank Pay grades

Does anyone know the full scale of a Grade 15 / 16 at US Bank? are they geo dependent (for the scale).

I am about to most likely receive an offer for a position that the range advertised is

119 to 140K (likely to receive at 130 -135K per recruiter)

I hear the range actually goes to 160K+ (base only)

Is this correct?

@1er

Thanks for correcting, is Texas and Chicago in same Geo Band?

What is the approval process or duration if we ask above midpoint and they need to get those VP level approvals ?

Chicago is geo E not D. Gr15 midpoint is 146300.

AIP is NOT negotiable. You heard 25% but that's gr16. Gr15 is 20% period.

@1bq

Thanks this so far is great info so based on your knowledge

For Chicago location geo band D, the mid point is 140k on the full salary band,?

I have leverage as I 2 other offers above 150k with 20+ min bonus and am thinking of asking to match and or beat at 160 +K.

If not ill go with other option

I also have some specialized skills they are looking for in came to know this after the interview meaning I have more skills than what their requirements are.

Wanted to just chime in here. I’m not a recruiter but have a solid understanding of comp at the bank. Chicago is Geo Range E. The base range is C and each range is 7% +/- depending on the geo. So Chicago is + 14%. Range for 15 for a D (+7%) is $105k-$176k. 16 for a D is ($117-$196k) However this year the bank reduced the max amount they will pay without sr leadership approval is midpoint. (15D-$140.9k, 16D-$156.9k) Bonus and LTI is (15-20%, 9k. 16-25%, 14k) Those amount are typically not negotiable and standard across the board. For reference before the change, they used to be able to extend offers up to 10% above midpoint. That has now changed and you could see that in the adjustments of the salary range on the job postings. Obviously there is always room for exceptions and I’m not privy to when those are made but the standard is what I have outlined.

They want something for nothing here. I interviewed internally, and the recruiter offered much lower than what was advertised online. Complete bait and switch and misleading. They want senior level work, then they need to pay for it.

@164

Thanks the reason I asked here is I know this is layoffs.com

But this is only website on entire Google that showed people asking for offers for US bank blind and fishbowl didn't have as much info as pertaining to Geo bands and other information.

Just remember folks am not asking this to burn or troll anyone.

I have a family, I have kids I have to fight what's best for me.

We all need to stand for ourselves my current sh-t hole place won't give me 10 16k bump despite doing Architected solutions and Senior level work above my pay grade

Hence the attempt to move.

I am not trying to boast or show off i just need to make market wage.

If we don't negotiate during sign on and offer he'll we won't see an increase unless you kiss people behind which I don't I just do good work and mind my own business.

Again sorry if others felt bad , I could be laid off too.

@OP This role and similar roles will be offshored sooner rather than later, so may as well shoot your shot with the comp negotiation because there's nothing to lose here. Then accept the better offer elsewhere.

Please report back with HR's response.

Unpopular opinion but I wish there were more compensation discussions on this site. As a rule, managers / HR won't tell you anything because the standard operating models here are conflict theory and social control, where the ruling class strives to preserve knowledge inequities to keep the masses in subordinate positions.

When leadership isn't actively planning / executing your constructive dismissal, they get their kicks by offering you an "opportunity" to be a contributor to strategic planning sessions, full well knowing they're gatekeeping access to high-quality, critical, or comprehensive information, so your contributions make you look like a complete tool in front of other leaders, further guaranteeing you'll never be offered any true opportunities to effectively develop your career.

Whether you use the comp info for a role here or your next job at a different institution, market knowledge is power and sharing should be encouraged. And whoever said you'll never make the amounts discussed in this post, there are hundreds of employees at USB getting paid these amounts who are d-mb af, so don't sell yourself short.

There is no valid reason for someone already employed to join this dumpster fire.

I'm a 15. Per my comp summary last year: min 109, midpoint 146, max 183. Aip target 20%. My region is CA.

Echoing what others have said on here. It comes across as tone deaf and insensitive to ask for advice on how to get the best deal on a layoff forum. Your questions are for HR and your hiring manager.

Side note, there are more things to consider than money as other have said. It doesn’t matter what the range is, they will only pay you what the budget will allow.

Do you know the geo bands for chicago for the posted job?

I think being a sh---y place is org dependent and manager dependent too..

Doesn’t sound like boasting to me. USB is lowballing you based on your conversations with HR and the offers you already have in hand. I’d take one of the other offers and save yourself a lot of frustration and regret.

Why are you posting this here? Did you get laid off? Seems a bit like boasting to me. Many here are hurting and will never make that amount of money and are barely hanging on 😕

@az due to difficulty filling the role and my verbal conversations I am expecting at 130 135K base per the recruiter so it's not 126K.

Am trying to negotiate more as I have 2 other companies offering at 150 170 level plus bonus so want to see if they can budget.

Also is bonus AIP negotiable ? I was told 20% but I seen other people get 25% too?

@az

I have a nice background and also YoE exceeding and I have other offers on table legit

I will likely ask them 150 160k no less and see where it goes

They start ppl at 90% of mid point so you will get offered 126k and since it’s late in the year you will not get a raise next year!

Based off of this information you're going for a grade 15 which the full scale will change drastically depending on geo location. For a geo D looking at a max of 175.
