Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Many H1B Visa holders will be in Limbo

Fiserv being heavily dependent on H1B visa holders.. the new rule taking out the auto-renewal of H1B effective October 30 2025 could impact the overall workforce seriously.

"The end of H-1B automatic renewal for those filing after October 30, 2025, creates uncertainty for H-1B holders, as their work authorization will cease on their current card's expiration date, potentially leading to unemployment gaps while waiting for USCIS to process their renewal. This change can jeopardize careers and financial stability for both the worker and their employer. This impacts not only H-1B visa holders but also their dependents (such as those on an H-4 visa) who hold work permits based on their dependent status. "

I believe it's just a bump in the road. Trump is already equivocating saying we need H1-B in many cases. Most likely due to Corporate Overlords whispering in his ear about it. Follow the money, that's what usually wins out in the end.

There are incredible abuses of H1-B, I've seen it personally. And yeah, I do believe it stems from those in charge lining their pockets. But there are also some real needs for it. Every system gets abused, we are greedy humans.

Maybe they'll find a way to use it efficiently, but sadly, I anticipate it will just be reverted to very close to what it once was.

Sorry if this post wasn't blowhard-y enough.

H1B here is a racket. We get to work double hours for the same paycheck, all fighting with bigger risk of losing our jobs.

Gives back diminishing returns for all and eliminates the point of hiring technology professionals for any substantial amount of time. It guarantees we do not keep anyone truly talented or who spends their time effectively - H1B, or local. It makes sure the working class realize they will not have a better quality of life each passing year - because corporations will find a way to keep you down no matter how much value you would have provided.

Workers will be only rarely but predictably promoted for being less efficient. Optics and busywork or kissing a-s is number 1 above positive impact. If you observe here for over a decade, through all the CEOs and are honest, you will recognize it like groundhog day.

@aq where did you get information about " Every job listing explicitly states no immigration support"? Im not seeing anything like that.

Even the pending renewal requests are not getting approved. There is no grace period now, they need to take a break from work until the decision is made by USCIS.

That is for people that file after October 2025. I don’t think Fiserv has provided any h1b support after September. Every job listing explicitly states no immigration support
