Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Other Healthcare Companies Employees expressing very similar complaints as Humana — Doesn’t make it right

Click on the links for other healthcare companies like Elevance, Centene, and Optum and you will see a very similar vibe as to:
1) abusive leadership trying to get employees to quit by using mind games of stress,
2) layoffs,
3) RTO return to office
4) H-1B Visa abuse,
5) Outsourcing,
6) Artificial Intelligence taking over human jobs,
7) Ageism regarding ERP
8) Racial discrimination against own American citizenship as well as those who happen to be caucasian in skin color
9). Etc. etc.

It is almost as though all these CEOs got together and instigated a plan.

The United States now spends nearly $4.9 trillion a year on healthcare — about 18% of GDP — yet outcomes lag behind much of the developed world. Why? Because too much of that money never reaches patients. It’s trapped in a maze of middlemen, billing schemes, and bureaucratic bloat that feed off government dollars.

Over 1,100 healthcare provider networks compete not just for patients, but for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, which together total more than $1.7 trillion annually. Wherever there’s guaranteed government money, exploitation follows. Federal watchdogs estimate that fraud, waste, and abuse consume up to 15% of all health spending — hundreds of billions lost to unnecessary tests, inflated billing, and outright scams.

The U.S. doesn’t lack doctors or technology; it lacks accountability. Until healthcare stops rewarding volume over value, the system will remain less about healing the sick and more about harvesting public funds.

@OP I really like how you categorized things by numbering.

I think without bold persons willing to speak out intelligently by listing out the many different ways that C-suite executives throughout, not just Humana, all large Insurance companies are chipping away from many different angles the jobs of the American workforce…all to increase profits for shareholders.

If bold persons do not speak out to shine a light on what is taking place, the rest of the workforce will simply suffer in silence, perhaps not even realizing what is taking place, much like a lobster or frog that is bathing in a soothing pot of hot water until it reaches a boil and it is too late.

Hopefully, not just the poster here but other likeminded posters on the other company’s layoff sites will do the same and hopefully some gutsy Directors will relay things back to C-suite.

Unfortunately, most likely it is doubtful…but what else is American workforce going to do; simply give up? I think of we did that, five years from now we will regret doing so.

Yeah just about all boxes are checked for me. I don't think telehealth is a secure position for most of us. I'm a nurse and I definitely don't feel safe. When I started having this feeling, I thought I was just possibly worrying too much, however I am seeing it play out.
