Thread regarding Canadian Natural Resources Limited layoffs

CNRL Yes or No

Generally speaking, most O&G companies are a mess. Changes to work from home; limited to no longer available, chaotic environments, and inconsistent leadership. I've worked at a few, and each one felt like its own kind of circus.

That said, what makes CNRL stand out (negatively) compared to peers like Cenovus or Suncor?

If you started at CNRL’s Calgary corporate office, what do you wish you’d known beforehand? Would you genuinely advise others to steer clear?

Two year stock performance down 5.5% won’t help things.

This is d-mb. Have you worked at non Oil and Gas companies? You could just say most companies are a mess.

Part of the problem with CNRL is that they don't really do layoffs and some people get complacent/mail it in. Could easily cut the bottom 5%.

Avoid if possible. Net worth won’t grow much with recent stock performance and no raises.

The CNRL message is consistent: save money wherever possible. The message hasn't changed in the 9 years I've been here. The style of management has not changed. There have been no layoffs - they'll reduce pay across the board to avoid it, and then bring the pay back up when the crisis is over. I've been through many, many rounds of layoffs in other companies and there is something to be said for being stable. There are some bullies around, and it can be frustrating to hear "No" all the time when the opportunity to make changes comes up. We are never on the cutting edge of technology. If that's what you want, stay away. If you want your net worth to grow, come on over!
