Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Offshoring (rant)

I really hate how this company offshores so many roles to Mexico City and India etc. My organization is running thin on people and short staffed. There are hiring freezes still for backfilled roles.

I have offshore people on my team and their quality of work su-ks and can’t understand what they are saying sometimes.

Instead of hiring a senior person in the US TR will hire 2 juniors offshored to other countries? Anyone else see the same thing here?

there are some exceptionally talented individuals in these locations. but they are just that. exceptions. when they look to hire in these locations they are looking to pay less and it shows in the quality of work. there have been new features shipped in certain products that are super cringe embarrassing. the fact that customers are even hanging on to these products is unbelievable to me. im hoping this recent turn in stock price is indicative that customers realize theyre being treated like chop liver

Smart people are in every country. If you pay low salary, you get appropriate leveled talent in any country. If TR paid like Meta, you’d get OpenAI-quality talent and TR would produce good products. But TR is too cheap to hire quality talent.
