America doesn't need H1B anymore. We have highly talented and educated engineers. We lacked these in the 90s and 2000s, but we've been catching up with CS grades since 2010.

Let the indian factories make uber clones, America will still innovate. Let companies offshore to india, America will still innovate. When you offshore, you get what you pay for.

@n7, I am not sure if you know this, but T-Mobile (TMUS) is owned by Deutsche Telekom (DT), currently around 55% ownership. Do you recognize the DT logo? Deutsche Telecom has a presence in India with Deutsche Telekom Digital Labs (DTDL) and T-Systems. Offshoring IT/Tech Stack Engineering Careers would NOT be an issue.

If tmobile plans to open offices in India, how does this new h1b rule affect the company? Isn't building offices offshore a way around it?

@k7 T-Mobile has diplomatic immunity against the new H1B fee. Providers of Trump Mobile don’t pay the fee. Look it up if you don’t believe me. It’s law.

No it isn't, and I did "look it up"

Now he just needs to sign another one making this fee for renewals. This is for only new applicants only. Old applicants shouldn't be "grandfathered" in.

@bt, another example comparing the T-Mobile Careers and the LCA for the Pricing Manager:

@bt, using the ”Business Analysis Manager” LCA Case Number I-200-25093-828628 as an example.

  1. Open the LCA

https://h1bgrader.com/h1b-sponsors/t-mobile-usa-inc-okprrrn124/lca/2025/lca-details/I-200-25093-828628

  1. In the LCA, find the SOC code; 2. SOC (ONET/OES) code 15-2051.01

  2. Do a simple Google search on the code and click the ONET link

https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/15-2051.01

Don’t rely on the job title, always check the SOC. Hope this helps.

@aj No. NVIDIA made a d-mbed own version of its AI chip to try and sell in China, pending approval.

The demand for STEM TOP TALENT is extremely high. Companies are willing to pay the additional costs to sponsor these employees, and will do the needful to absorb these costs. If you are a DS0 circuit testing guru, with 20 years of experience…

In FY2025, TMUS had 409 LCAs. FY2026 starts on 10/1/2025. The H1BGRADER website is decent; “scrapes” from the DOL and USCIS sites.

Now let’s say if other countries also start putting high tariffs on American products and ban American companies then what happens? China already put ban on Nvidia gpus and asked its companies to rely on its own products for AI. Other countries may get together is likely scenario and we will be left behind. Arrogance always hurts

At this point even if this goes through knowing its impact on economy is very complex. It seems detrimental to innovation in tech companies in long run. But definitely makes good political headlines. Trade always brings prosperity to both parties and protectionism has never worked in past.
