So have you heard that the move to remove all remote workers is underway, if your not in a HUB the plan is to ask you to move to a HUB or leave. Come on is this true

@zh We know we can smell you but understand it's a cultural thing. Now get back in your Tesla keep up with the Patels
I wear my pajamas to the office. It’s all good.
“ Good put on proper work attire not dirty pj’s and back to werk lazy people do you think you’re entitled now“
No.
And my PJs are clean, if you must know.
Good put on proper work attire not dirty pj’s and back to werk lazy people do you think you’re entitled now?
Whats the hub bub about hubs?
Not buying it. We have many in our org doing virtual and or not at a hub. Recent layoffs did not impact any of these folks and none are the high performers. The ironic thing is the recent folks who were made surplus were in a Hub and were decent performers. The only thing the folks laid off had in common was many yrs of service (over 30).
“ Love it, if they offer a package you’re good to go as well ?“
Well, I think the offering of packages is behind us (I’m non bargained for).
Most likely is they tell me I need to start reporting 5x8 to the office I currently go to once a month (almost 100 miles one way). I will refuse that.
I’m just hoping when I do they don’t try and not offer the severance and just fire me. Per the terms of the current severance plan they would need to offer the severance based on the work location change.
@c8 "But hub in itself is also a misnomer. Nobody can define what a hub is. "
Some can't even understand it's not an acronym and write hub as HUB. ;^)
@a6 "They can always just shut down the VPN service."
Excellent plan! That makes traveling on company business far more relaxing. No need to check in from the airport or hotel, it can all wait until I'm on AT&T soil. Also, no more work from customer prems, cell sites, etc... Out of hours response? No worries about working it from home, it can wait until you drive to the location.
I'm actually surprised the cubicle pilots in Dallas who have never working in the field haven't thought this is a great idea already.
@aw Love it, if they offer a package your good to go as well ?
But hub in itself is also a misnomer. Nobody can define what a hub is. Too many self proclaimed "centers of excellence" or "customer facing" (and not talking about retail sales offices with that).
They originally came up with the big hub list and Seattle included Redmond which is already gone. Legg said some places on the list weren't valid for his org. Too many exceptions created and in some of these non 5×8 locatations, people forced to move and in others not. CSO recently invented non hub Charlotte.
So not only having virtual exceptions, they also have hub exceptions and good people continue to get scr@wed over by all these exceptions.
This is the last RTO attrition move they have left before forcing everyone into one of 4 hubs. After that it’s back to regularly scheduled rolling RTO layoffs every 6 months
Been hearing same thing for years.
I’m still virtual.
Go to office (100 miles each way ) once a month with no complaints.
If they tell me I need to go there every day, I’m retiring. If they tell me I need to go to Dallas I’m retiring.
So the ball is in their court. Whatever.
If you aren’t in the big 4, the. Your days are numbered. If you aren’t in Dallas/Plano within the next couple years then your days are also numbered.
Have have you remained WFH for the last 3 years?!
@a6 please do. Then no work can be done outside the office at all. That would be excellent. Id--t
Very true. Consider yourself lucky you got away with it this long.
100% true...my coworkers team had a call last week where they were asked that very question and had one week to provide their response in writing.
They can always just shut down the VPN service. If any of the RTO justifications had a shred of validity, that that would be the obvious answer. If remote is bad for business, stop paying to keep VPN services alive. Then everyone who is working is in an office just like they want. If they choose to keep the VPN, then we know everything else they claim about it being a problem is just a convenient lie to drive attrition.
There are always exceptions for some folks. You’re just not one.
It already happened at other teams even couple of years ago
They arent gonna remove that. They'll use it to their advantage. Kinda like during winter storms all over the east, they told employees they can wfh, but when its normal conditions, wfh doesnt exist.
