Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Beware of the P.I.P! It's a trap!

Be aware that if your manager at L3Harris puts you on a PIP (Personal Improvement Plan) that they are planning to lay you off without a severance package.
You will make it through the designated time period, but there will be one caveat - they will be able to let you go at any time without any reason or justification.

High performing employees don’t want to see bottom feeders getting nothing done hanging around with no consequences. No high performing and hard working employee has an issue with the worst performers being performance managed and held accountable to executing their work. I’m sorry you are being put on a PIP, but we don’t really feel bad for you. Start looking for another job where you may do better.

Phone or clown? Maybe Rochester or probably Clifton. Definitely an East coaster.

@1c1 wow I re remember that meat head. 14 years ago, an employee of 38 years fell on hard times after his 22 year old daughter passed. Instead of getting him help, that manager got him fired for underperforming . He couldn't keep up with the workload and was let go in October 2011. He took his own life the day after Christmas The manager you're talking about used the PIP to impose impossible goals for him to keep and used it as cause for his dismissal. It took a few years, but Divine Justice showed up.

@s8 you are 100% right. One of the biggest bullies in clifton, a manager who is a real sc-mbag, a manager who bullied people, picked on people, and particularly those who were perceived as weak. He walked around with his chest puffed out and his loud booming voice acting like a big shot because he got people fired. During the peak of covid he abruptly retired when he was told he had to work on site instead of staying home. 5 years after he retired, The je-k was cruising along on his bike went for no reason went over the handlebars and died. No other cars involved. Justice from above indeed..

When did L3 become Honeywell? I've worked at both companies and the GE cancer has spread all over. Too bad L3 was never the same after Frank Lanza died. It's been a downhill journey ever since.

@t6 lowest perceived relative performer is typically how it works, unfortunately there are no standardized competency tests

PIP means you are a poor performer. All of your leads thought so and wrote it up in your reviews. Having a hard time feeling any pity here.

@fn in New Jersey at least, you are entitled to unemployment benefits even if you get fired. The only time you are not eligible for unemployment benefits is if you are a fired for misconduct such as committing a crime under their employment.

They do not have enough money to cover RIF severance, which is why they are gaming the system with this PIP. Fired, no unemployment, and no severance. Things are getting worse and worse every day.

Spend your time looking for another job. Even if you don't get a new job before you're fired, you'll get a head start on what type of interview questions companies are asking. And while you're on PIP, get some training done on the tools and areas that the interview's asked and you didn't know the answer well. Use the company resources to get some training if they have online courses available. Use them the best way you can to get some experience to prepare for your next job while you're on PIP. Most likely you will be fired, so use this time wisely.

If you're on a P. I. P at L3HARRIS, your career is over with that company. Even if by some miracle you don't get fired or laid off in the next R. I. F., your prospects for advancement are gone forever. You may as well be a convicted felon.

If you're put on a PIP, you're already fired. You just don't know it yet

Do not sign any papers, and tell them you want to take vacation. When you return, you will sign the papers. During your vacation, look for another job or go see your doctor for short-term disability (tell your doctor you are under lots of pressure, always feeling tired, not able to focus, etc. Make up excuses where the doctor can't prove how you feel with further tests.)
PIP will be recorded in your company records and when the next company that does a background check on you, it will show up in your database. No matter what you do, do NOT SIGN any PIP forms. It will remain in your employee records and database forever making it very difficult for you to get another job. Do whatever to delay from signing. Call in sick for several days if you need to. Do some internet research on how PIP affects you from getting another job, collecting unemployment, getting your severance, etc.
These companies are trying everything they can not to pay you: your severance; if you are fired - you can't collect unemployment; and also check how it affects you from getting your pension if the company has a pension program.
